Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launched on the night from Thursday to Friday, but without its biggest game mode Ground War. An update to the playlist has now brought the mode retroactively.
When does Ground War come out? Modern Warfare initially launched last night without Ground War. With an update to the playlist around 9:00 PM German time, the multiplayer mode was finally unlocked.
How can I play Ground War? The mode can now be played just like the other multiplayer modes through the Modern Warfare multiplayer. Go to the multiplayer section and select the option “Ground War” or “Bodenkrieg”.
Ground War – The largest game mode in Modern Warfare
What is Ground War? Ground War features battles with teams of 32 players – for a total of 64 players on the map.
Your task is to capture and hold multiple points on the game’s largest maps. You have various vehicles at your disposal, such as:
- Tanks
- Personnel carriers
- Helicopters
This makes the mode more reminiscent of Battlefield than the traditional multiplayer modes of Call of Duty. Additionally, you can also use your loadouts along with weapon attachments as well as the killstreaks known from CoD.
Does it take long to find a lobby? The game mode is indeed much larger than anything the Call of Duty series has offered before, however, Modern Warfare also has several changes compared to its predecessors.
One of the most important changes is crossplay between PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If this is enabled in the options, you will find players from every platform in your lobby. Even large 64-player lobbies should fill up quickly this way.
Why is Ground War only coming now? After the release took place without Ground War, many players assumed it was to protect the servers from overcrowding.
About at the time of the global release of the PC version around 3:00 AM on the morning of Friday, October 25, there were also numerous complaints and issues reaching the servers. Ground War would probably not have been playable at that time.
