In The Division 2, the most well-known Division expert is currently causing a hot topic on Reddit – this time, however, he is not being praised for his statements.
The expert in question is: MarcoStyle has been regarded as the biggest Division expert for years, sharing his knowledge with the community through YouTube videos. He has also uploaded several videos for The Division 2, which are more like math lessons than gameplay videos, as he always bases his statements on self-calculated statistics, numbers, and DPS values.
He has actually enjoyed a high reputation among agents for years, as many players benefit from this information and he presents his insights more engagingly than many math teachers.
But currently, he is facing criticism and severe insults on Reddit.
This statement angered many: Over the weekend, MarcoStyle tweeted his impressions about PvP in The Division 2:
- So far, he enjoys The Division 2 very much, but the normalization (equalization of values in PvP content) is “super, super aggressive.” His tank and DPS builds hardly differ from each other. There is also the occupied Dark Zone, which is just a PvP area without any balance.
- He adds in another tweet: The occupied Dark Zones have no PvP modifiers at all. Any damage dealt in PvE is also dealt in PvP. Grenades kill instantly, sniper bullets kill with one hit, and the time-to-kill is almost as fast as in CoD. He does not like the PvP in the game at all so far.
Agents plead with Massive: Don’t listen to content creators
Some agents react: The current top post on Reddit is about these tweets from MarcoStyle. The user writes: “Content creators are already whining about DZ-PvP and want to change it. Please do not listen to them, Massive.”
The post has already received over 10,000 upvotes, which is extremely significant for the Division Reddit.
The user states that these content creators (i.e., YouTubers, streamers) rush through the game, quickly create top builds, and then whine when “normal” players can still defeat them in PvP. Therefore, MarcoStyle would demand a higher time-to-kill so that he has an advantage with a super build.
The topic has escalated significantly in the past few hours. Additional posts with thousands of upvotes have emerged, in which people demand: “Massive, please do not let streamers change your game” or warn of early nerfs and changes.
In the comments, it looks much “uglier.” Here, the content creators, especially MarcoStyle, are heavily insulted.
- “Publishers must finally realize that these damn guys do not speak for all of us.”
- Streamers have ruined many games already.
- They are the cancer of video games.
- They should not have any influence on how content or mechanics in games develop.
If you scroll further down, the comments continue in this manner. This almost resembles a witch hunt.
It is emphasized that “normal people” do not have nearly as much time to play as streamers and are therefore glad that they still have a chance in PvP. Massive should not change anything just because a streamer is whining.
This is how MarcoStyle reacts: MarcoStyle has already responded multiple times to all the criticism. Initially with a defiant reaction: “Okay, fine. Then I will no longer talk about changes. I will just exploit what is ‘broken’ and bully you with it. We’ll see how long you’ll still have fun.”
From now on, he will cover the game under the motto: “Don’t cry, just adapt.” Therefore, he will soon upload a video about a one-shot sniper build for PvP and a video on how to take cover so that others cannot damage him while he shoots at them.
A few hours later, he reacted more thoughtfully: “I find it so bizarre to be called the cancer of gaming.” Especially since this comment has currently received over 1400 upvotes. He only stated that he does not like ONE aspect of the game that he otherwise enjoys very much.
He adds that this tweet should not be understood as an apology. The one-shot sniper video will still come and he regrets nothing from what he wrote.
What will Massive do? Whether and how Massive will respond to the criticism of PvP remains to be seen. However, since this topic is making such high waves on Reddit, the developers will probably not make changes anytime soon.
