In Fortnite, the jump to the next generation is coming soon. But before heading towards PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, you can secure a piece of Fortnite history.
This is what’s happening in Fortnite: The release of the new consoles is rapidly approaching, and Fortnite is expected to be playable from day one. The Xbox Series X is launching on November 10, while the PS5 will be available in Germany on November 19.
But before we look to the future, Fortnite wants to take a look back – in the form of a gift. Therefore, starting November 4, the “Nostalgia Pickaxe” will be available for all Fortnite players – completely free of charge.
The Nostalgia Pickaxe is the standard pickaxe that was available at the very beginning in Chapter 1 of Fortnite.
Some might still remember: Back then, you didn’t land at Stark Industries, but in the little house in the middle of Loot Lake, for example. Vehicles like jetpacks, boats, or cars were still a thing of the future. And instead of crazy axe variants like the “Groot Harvesting Tool” from the current Battle Pass, you just had the classic pickaxe in hand.
The Nostalgia Pickaxe represents the classic, unchanged pickaxe from the old days.
How do I get the pickaxe? To get the pickaxe, you don’t have to do much. The Nostalgia Pickaxe will simply be available to every player in the game when they log in between November 4 and January 15, 2021. You will likely retrieve it from the in-game store.
The pickaxe is completely free for all platforms. On PlayStation, you can alternatively use the PlayStation Store to unlock the classic pickaxe.
Fortnite on PS5 and Xbox Series X
This is what’s ahead for NextGen: If you prefer to look ahead, you can look forward to some new features in Fortnite when it comes to the new consoles. Among other things, the game will feature improved graphics and is expected to support 4K resolution at 60 FPS on Series X and PS5. A first glimpse of the new version was already showcased a few weeks ago:
Additionally, features such as shorter loading times, improved split-screen (at 60 frames per second), and enhanced in-game physics will be introduced.
On PS5, the haptic feedback of the DualSense controller will also be supported, and your favorite modes should be accessible directly from the PS5 home screen.
Apart from the NextGen launch, Fortnite is also soon approaching the end of Season 4 and the start of Season 5. What could we expect as a season finale?
