Arataki Itto has been in Genshin Impact since December 14, 2021. The strong 5-star Geo fighter deals heavy damage when he picks up his club. MeinMMO shows you how to best equip Itto.
The Geo hero is a classic “smash it” character that can be played quite easily with a bit of practice. You just need to make sure to execute his deadly slashes at the right time.
How to properly use Itto’s skills: Itto’s goal is to use his “Arataki Kesagiri” slashes as often as possible. If you hit enemies with the 2nd and 4th hit of Itto’s standard attack combo, you collect 1 and 2 stacks of “super strong superpower” respectively. The 1st and 3rd hits do not have to hit opponents for the 2nd and 4th hits to accumulate stacks.
You need to gather 5 stacks to execute the complete “Arataki Kesagiri” slash combo. By holding down the mouse button, he performs this combo and strikes faster than usual. Additionally, Itto does not consume stamina while doing this.
A finisher follows that also deals considerable damage.

You can gain additional stacks of “super strong superpower” by using Itto’s elemental skill. The little bull “Ushi” that you summon draws the attention of enemies and grants Itto 1 stack each time:
- He gets hit,
- hits an enemy
- or disappears from the field.
So it’s worth calling Ushi during standard attacks to reach 5 stacks faster.
Tip: The combo with his standard attacks is not interrupted by running or using the elemental skill.
Itto’s important abilities, talents, and constellations
Which abilities are relevant? In addition to his normal attacks and the heavy blows with the “Arataki Kesagiri” slashes, his special ability is another damage output that Itto does not want to do without.
During the special ability, each 1st and 3rd hit with his club grants 1 stack of “super strong superpower” respectively. When possible, you want to activate his special ability with 5 previously gathered stacks to deal massive damage immediately.
Which talents should you level up first? Prioritize his standard attacks and his special ability. Ushi comes last, but it’s worth leveling all talents to at least level 6 and higher.
Which constellations benefit Itto the most? Itto has excellent potential at 0 unlocked constellations (C0). However, his C1 can be practical: It grants you 2 stacks of “super strong superpower” directly when you use Itto’s special ability.
Additionally, you get 3 more stacks shortly afterwards, in no time. With C1, you don’t necessarily have to pay attention to bringing 5 stacks into the special ability, as you get them almost immediately anyway.
His C2 further boosts his special ability and reduces the cooldown. You also gain extra elemental energy, making it easier to recharge his special ability. The bonuses depend on the number of Geo characters in the team.
For those of you with enough original resin: C6 increases the critical damage of Itto’s heavy blows by 70% and he does not consume stacks of “super strong superpower” by 50%. An extremely strong buff, in addition to his already high damage.
Useful weapons for Arataki Itto
The weapons are sorted by strength and usefulness. We have also always assumed refinement level 1.
– Rothorn Crusher: The signature weapon is the best weapon for Itto. It grants massive critical damage and increases your defense by 28%. Additionally, standard attacks and heavy blows scale based on 40% of Itto’s defense.
– Available in the Battle Pass, Bone Sword: Increases critical hit rate (CHR) in addition to Itto’s own CHR value. Together, you already get a value of 51.8% CHR when the sword and Itto are level 90. Additionally, with a shielder, you can easily utilize the attack buff of the Bone Sword: If you stay on the field for 20 seconds and take no damage, your damage increases by 30%.
– Pride of the Skies: Gives Itto necessary recharge rate when you fail to achieve it with artifacts and deals additional valuable damage with its vacuum blades.
– As a Free2Play variant, craftable at the blacksmith, White Shadow: Can increase your defense and attack by a total of 24% when you hit with standard attacks and heavy blows.
– Available in the Paimon Shop, Blackstone Cutter: Primarily grants you additional critical damage.
– White Iron Greatsword: For beginners who are at the beginning of the game or those who don’t have a suitable other weapon.
These artifacts are worth it on Itto
Which artifact set is the best? The “Bowl of Bountiful Dreams” set is the best set for Itto.
- 2-piece set bonus: Increases defense (DEF) by 30%.
- 4-piece set bonus: If the character equipped with this set is active, they collect 6% DEF and Geo damage as a bonus every 0.3 seconds when dealing Geo damage. If the character is inactive, they receive the bonus every 3 seconds. The bonus can only be triggered 4 times in a row. This means the maximum potential is 24%. If the effect is no longer triggered, a bonus of 6% disappears every 6 seconds.
Are there alternatives? An alternative could be the “Inverted Meteor” artifact set. If you have a character in the team that distributes shields, Itto could meaningfully utilize the 4-piece set bonus. This gives 40% more damage when attacking with standard attacks and heavy blows. That’s what Itto does primarily.
However, it does not outshine the “Bowl of Bountiful Dreams” set. Its bonuses are too valuable.
What stats do the artifacts need? Since Itto’s strength is primarily based on Geo damage and defense, it is worth investing in that direction. Attack is not completely useless for him to deal decent base damage, but it is much less important than in regular main DPS.
| Icon | Artifact Piece | Required Main Stat |
| Flower | Fixed Main Stat: Health Points (HP) | |
| Feather | Fixed Main Stat: Attack (ATK) | |
| Sundial | Defense % (DEF) | |
| Chalice | Geo Damage Bonus % (Geo-DMG-Bonus) | |
| Crown | Critical Hit Rate (CHR), Critical Damage (CD) or DEF % |
These sub-stats should you prioritize:
- DEF %
- CHR, ideally in a ratio of about 1 to 3 against CD. Example: 50% CHR and 150% CD.
- CD
- Recharge rate, until you have about 130% to 150%. Depending on whether you have a character in the team that collects elemental energy particles for Itto (battery). If you don’t have one, you are better equipped with more recharge rate than with less.
- ATK %
Arataki Itto as a team member
Which teams does Itto fit in? Itto fits particularly well in teams with additional Geo characters. Also, you need to make sure to provide him with a battery if you notice that your special ability is not charging quickly enough.
It’s important that he can use his special ability uninterrupted or gather stacks of “super strong superpower” while on the field. Zhongli or Diona can help him as a shielder.
Additionally, it’s not wrong to have a healer on the team. While Gorou can heal with C4, that may not be enough against strong enemies or the corrosion effect.
Geo Team:
- Arataki Itto, as main DPS.
- Gorou, as supporter and sub-DPS – he buffs both defense and Geo damage once at least 3 Geo characters are in the team. Gorou himself counts towards that.
- Albedo, as an additional sub-DPS, or Zhongli as a shielder and sub-DPS.
- Mobility unit.
The “mobility unit” can be filled either with a 4th Geo team member or another character. Diona is a good fit as she can heal and provide shields to her allies. Equipped with the Favonius bow, she can generate additional useful elemental energy particles, assisting her teammates in recharging their special abilities more quickly.
Other mobility units that may be useful:
- Kazuha/Sucrose/Venti: To gather opponents and comfortably smash them with Itto. Itto even hits the enemies in Venti’s special attack. Sucrose can equip the book “The Deeds of the Dragon Slayers” to boost the damage when switching to Itto.
- Jean: Also has crowd control and can heal her teammates.
- Geo/Electro Traveler: Additional battery and sub-DPS.
- Bennett: Provides healing and increases their damage. C6 Bennett can be counterproductive if you want to perform neutral attacks with Itto, as he converts them into Pyro attacks in his special attack field.
- Barbara: Heals the team and can also equip the book “The Deeds of the Dragon Slayers” to boost Itto’s attacks.
- Fischl or Xingqiu: Additional off-field damage.
- Ningguang: Additional damage and buff potential for Geo damage through her abilities.
Arataki Itto is definitely THE new main DPS in Geo teams and can deal considerable damage. However, he needs support from other Geo characters to unleash his full potential. In elemental teams, the hero tends to be overshadowed.
