Nvidia has introduced its new graphics card series, the RTX 4000, in its stream. MeinMMO explains what you can expect from the new graphics cards.
With the GeForce RTX 4000 and the Radeon RX 7000, gamers are expecting two major announcements in gaming this year. After AMD had already presented its new Ryzen 7000 processors in detail, Nvidia has now officially introduced its new generation of graphics cards.
The most important points at a glance:
- The RTX 4090 will be Nvidia’s new flagship. The graphics card is expected to be released on October 12, 2022, and should officially cost 1949 euros.
- The RTX 4080 is the second graphics card presented and aims for performance below the RTX 4090. Prices start at 1099 euros and are well above the 3080 (729 euros).
- Availability is still unknown. Prices are significantly higher compared to the RTX 3000.
- The RTX 4080 will be available directly at release with either 12 GB or 16 GB of video memory.
- Compared to the RTX 3000, the RTX 4090 and 4080 are expected to deliver double the performance.

RTX 4090 – This is Nvidia’s new flagship
What exactly does the RTX offer? With the RTX 4090, Nvidia has introduced its fastest graphics card. Currently, the RTX 3090 Ti is the fastest graphics card available for gamers. However, the RTX 4090 is expected to offer up to double the performance of the RTX 3090 Ti, depending on the game. The RTX 4090 comes equipped with 24 GB of video memory.
When will the RTX 4090 be released? The graphics card is officially expected to be released on October 12, 2022.
What will the RTX 4090 cost? The recommended retail price for the RTX 4000 is set at 1949 euros. According to Nvidia, there will also be a Founders Edition. Prices for custom models from other manufacturers will be slightly higher, with expectations of prices above 2000 euros.
RTX 4080 costs 300 euros more than the 3080
What exactly does the RTX offer? With the RTX 4080, Nvidia has introduced a second graphics card. Depending on the game, the RTX 4080 is expected to deliver double the performance of the RTX 3080 Ti.
When will the RTX 4080 be released? The graphics card is officially expected to be released in November 2022. There is no official date yet.
What will the RTX 4000 cost? There will be two versions of the RTX 4080 available at launch.
- The RTX 4080 with 12 GB of video memory for 1099 euros.
- The RTX 4080 with 16 GB of video memory for 1469 euros.
Compared to the RTX 3080, prices are rising significantly. Nvidia previously requested a recommended retail price of 729 euros for the RTX 3080.
Will availability be as bad as with RTX 3000?
After the official release of the RTX 3000 generation, very few people were able to buy a GPU. Either the graphics cards were hardly available or far too expensive. Many had to pay thousands of euros on eBay for a single graphics card.
Prices for the current generation (RTX 3000 and RX 6000) have significantly fallen, and you can buy graphics cards close to the MSRP again. However, we cannot yet say how availability and prices will be for the RTX 4080 and 4090 from retailers. Nvidia is also being tight-lipped.
