Gameloft, the creators of Disney’s Dreamlight Valley, have announced a new game. So far, there is no name for the project – just that it takes place in the Forgotten Realms. This is the world from Dungeons & Dragons, where you also find yourself in Baldur’s Gate 3. The game is said to feature content from various genres.
What kind of game is it?
- Gameloft describes the game as a blend of survival, life simulation, and action RPG – roughly a combination of Valheim, Stardew Valley, and Diablo.
- The game is based on Dungeons & Dragons, or more specifically: the Forgotten Realms. This universe has already featured Baldur’s Gate 3 and the latest D&D movie “Honor Among Thieves”.
- The studio itself already has experience with similar games. Gameloft is responsible for Disney Dreamlight Valley, which even delights MMORPG fans.
When and where will the game be released? The currently untitled game will be released for PC and “consoles”. So far, the developers have not mentioned specific platforms. However, Dreamlight Valley was released for PC, Xbox, and PS5, so it is very likely that all platforms will be catered to.
In the press releases on the official website and on X there is no further information about the planned release of the game. We also do not know where the development currently stands.
There is currently no trailer, just a single image showing several characters from the world of D&D: a dragonborn bard with only one leg, a (half-)elf, and presumably a human by the campfire.

New D&D Game Coming – What’s in Store?
Gameloft speaks of “cooperative gameplay, built around an innovative hybrid of survival, life simulation, and action RPG.” The apparent focus of the game is on adventures that you are supposed to experience and survive together.
At least in terms of life simulation and adventure, Gameloft already has experience. With Dreamlight Valley, the studio has created a licensed game that is very well received by players.
Since Dungeons & Dragons has primarily appeared in the realm of CRPGs in video games until now, a survival approach would indeed be something new. However, we cannot say how heavily the weighting of the respective genres will be in the end.
A kind of blend between Valheim and Baldur’s Gate 3 would be very conceivable and would fit both the description and the planned world of the Forgotten Realms. However, we do not expect a sprawling narrative like in Larian’s RPG hit. Sandbox adventures are more likely here.
