The DLC for Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree, has just received an emergency patch to slightly adjust the difficulty. The DLC will be easier, especially in the first half. This may be mainly because the Steam reviews are still quite mediocre.
This is the situation: The DLC for Elden Ring is difficult, too difficult for many. But according to the developers, it has to be this way:
- Nevertheless, this negatively affects the discussion. On Steam, the DLC, considered a masterpiece by many, has disappointing 69% positive reviews.
- The catch is that the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree” uses its own leveling system, and many players overlook this, becoming underpowered and getting slaughtered by the bosses – unless they use OP builds
This is the key to strength in the Elden Ring DLC:
Emergency patch makes the first half of the game easier
This is what FromSoftware is changing now: Today, on June 26, they released a “mini-patch,” a calibration update.
The patch changes how the “blessings in the shadow realm” scale: The blessings increase a player’s attack and defense as well as the strength of their spirit ashes when collecting the Scadubaum fragments and revered spirit ashes.
The idea is that the blessings now make your journey easier in the first half of the game – but only slightly change the balance in the second half of the DLC:
- The first bosses are supposed to become significantly easier
- The later bosses at least somewhat easier
The patch is not a big deal, but is seen merely as a small balancing update, so to speak, an “emergency update”.
A patch with bug fixes and features is supposed to come later.
