The co-op mode in Elden Ring leaves many players wanting more. That’s why modder “LukeYui” has created his own extensive co-op solution, which is set to be released this week.
What kind of solution is this? The project “Elden Ring Seamless Coop” is a mod by “LukeYui” that has been in discussion for some time.
This mod will be available on Friday, May 27th on “Nexus Mods” in an open beta version. It is only available for PC players of Elden Ring – console players will not be able to use the new co-op solution.
However, it is interesting to see what features “LukeYui” intends to implement to improve the co-op mode in Elden Ring.
New mod seeks to enhance co-op experience in Elden Ring
These are the problems: In Elden Ring, co-op is only available in limited form. Players are summoned, they cannot just join in, and they are sent back to their own world after dying. Among other things, the game cannot be played together everywhere, one can only cooperate with up to 2 co-op partners, and various features are not available to use together – such as riding.
Overall, the mod aims to address these issues and many others – and to enable “seamless” co-op in Elden Ring without restrictions.
This is what the mod offers now: You can find a small insight in the following video, which shows the current state and announces the release date for May 27th:
Among other things, it shows players sitting together at the campfire, riding through the Lands Between together, or fighting a dragon. The rewards for the battle are shared.
Additionally, it is possible to enable PvP and, in a sense, Friendly Fire – if one prefers to play against each other rather than together. Invasions are not planned meanwhile (via reddit).
Also noticeable: When a player dies, the connection is not terminated as is usually the case. Instead, an observer camera is used that lets you see how your friends fare after your death.
Further features of the map are expected to include:
- Shared fast travel through voting
- Shared map markings
- Entering areas where co-op is not intended
- Enemy scaling based on group size
- Shared progress. Bosses that you kill together in another player’s world are also dead for you. However, you do not take on the complete progress of the other player if you joined late.
Furthermore, the map should run through its own launcher and not through the usual matchmaking servers from FromSoftware. This is meant to prevent bans.
What is this good for? Basically, a seamless co-op mode could simplify the game a bit more than the normal co-op mode already does.
However, this could also serve as an incentive, especially if you have already experienced the “hard” variant of Elden Ring: rediscovering the game’s vast world together and creatively defeating foes could be a lot of fun.
And searching for secrets in places that one could only enter alone until now could also provide some entertaining hours together.
By the way, if you want to play alone but still want the game to be a bit easier: There is now also an Easy Mode mod.
What do you think about the co-op mod? Is this something you wished for? Or do you not like it? Let us know in the comments!
