The catch of the title: Your framerate, or FPS, corresponds to your health. When you get hit in the game, the frames per second drop, and the image gradually becomes choppier.
If you get hit too often, it quickly leads to a slideshow that primarily brings one thing: death. To prevent this, FPS Quest offers a range of tricks you can use against the game to keep your life and framerate up.
A shooter that wants to be optimized
What tricks are there? What do you usually do when your PC is too weak for a consistently high framerate? Exactly, head into the game settings and adjust certain graphics options until the gameplay runs smoothly. A developer has revealed what the secret of good performance is.

This may boost your FPS, but at the same time, the level sections, which are generated anew each run, become increasingly dangerous. If you remove too many important elements, you may find yourself running around completely disoriented – but enjoying a pleasantly fluid gaming experience.
Defeated enemies also grant you some frames per second. More effectively, there are the cheats that the game provides. With these, you can speed up or slow down the shooter, allowing you to fight in slow motion.
You’ll receive additional help, but also resistance, throughout the game from various factions, some of which will support you in your runs, while others aim to stop you. Above all, there is the so-called Dungeon Lord, a crazy AI that interferes with the level structure and causes considerable chaos.
How exactly you approach FPS Quest and which tricks you ultimately use is entirely up to you. The developers emphasize on the official Steam page that you need not fear headaches from low framerates: The low-FPS world is only simulated, and your actual hardware remains unaffected by the settings in the game.
