The big Fortnite World Cup 2019 is happening this weekend. We give you an overview of the participants and the prize money and tell you how you can take part.
Update Sunday, July 28 at 7:45 PM: The Fortnite World Cup in Solo has begun. This is the main event of the World Cup. To kick things off, Marshmello gave a live concert.
The first match of six matches this evening is already over.
The 1st match was won by the player Bugha, who also had 9 eliminations. He scored 19 points and is now in the lead. The second place has only 10 points.
This is the standing at the Fortnite World Cup after 4 out of 6 games in Solo
Update 9:36 PM: After 4 games, Bugha is still in 1st place. None of the “big favorites” are in the top 10.
Tfue is having a hard time, having only scored one point. There is also not much to see from Bizzle yet.

Bugha is the world champion in Fortnite – King wins the hearts of fans
Update 11:05 PM: The player Bugha is the Fortnite world champion in Solo and $3 million richer. The American finished the 1st match as the winner and maintained his lead until the end. He cleverly collected placement points in the matches and gathered numerous kills.
Bugha played aggressively but controlled and chose his fights wisely. The flow of the individual matches often worked to his advantage. He was able to hold his position early on and take down players who had to rotate towards him. Bugha appeared exceptionally calm under pressure, while some others clearly showed that the circumstances affected them.

Attention was also drawn during the World Cup by the 13-year-old Argentinian King. He played particularly aggressively. Although he often got eliminated early, he accumulated a lot of kills – in the end, he secured 5th place and $900,000. King was likely the fans’ favorite, who also celebrated Bugha for his clever style of play.
Of the “established names” that had been heard of before, there was little to see during the tournament. The favorites had little to do with the top spots, while relatively unknown young eSports players became millionaires.

Participants of the Fortnite World Cup – The 13-year-old “Lyght” from Germany is also here
This surprised everyone: The big Fortnite stars are not well represented at the World Cup. Only Tfue is here as a big streamer. Stars like Ninja or Myth could not qualify.
In contrast, many small streamers who are not in the big spotlight are found in New York. Among them is also Issa, who has made a name for himself in the German-speaking area.
Teenagers dominate the World Cup: Many underage players have qualified for the Fortnite World Cup. Among them is 15-year-old benjyfishy, who is so good that his mother took him out of school.
The Fortnite prodigy Mongraal is also in attendance. He is only 14 and is already exciting thousands of viewers on Twitch.
Who comes from Germany? A prominent participant from Germany is Lion “Lyght” Krause. The boy is only 13 and hopes for a steep start to his sports career with his participation in the World Cup.
In general, many young players are participating. They are pushing the “old” veterans off the qualifying spots and showing that especially the youth is strong in Fortnite.
Who has the best chances of winning? Experts mainly give young players good chances. They say that as a youth, you can react much faster. The participant list, which is full of young pros, proves exactly that.
The hottest candidates are therefore benyfishy or Mongraal. Among the somewhat older players, Bizzle is a frequently mentioned name. He even managed to win the qualification without a single weapon.
Prize money of the World Cup – What’s there to win?
These are the prize amounts: In total, there is a prize pool of over $30 million at the World Cup. The prize amounts are immensely high and hardly comparable to tournaments of other games.
This is what there is to win in the Solo tournament: Here, you can win the most money, as you don’t have to share it with your partner. The 1st place wins $3 million, 2nd place $1.8 million, and 3rd place still gets $1.2 million.
If you make it into the top 10, there is at least $225,000. For the top 20, there are still $112,500.
This is what there is to win in the Duo tournament: The prize amounts here look similar. However, Duo partners must share everything. The duo in 1st place also receives $3 million. If you make it into the top 10, there is $225,000. Each additional team gets $100,000.
This is what you get for free on top: The winners of the World Cup not only receive a high prize amount but also many other extras.
The entire Fortnite world is watching. Whoever wins will certainly have many more viewers on Twitch or YouTube afterwards and will become much more well-known.
What do you think about the Fortnite World Cup? Will you watch the spectacle?
