In Fortnite: Battle Royale, players are currently desperately searching for campfires and lighting them. But what is their purpose and does it even make sense?
What is the deal with campfires and the Prisoner? Campfires were introduced with Patch 7.30. They are local, fixed objects that you can only use once. When you use them, they act like the campfire item. Once burned out, the campfire cannot be used for the rest of the round.
The Prisoner is a special skin that you receive after completing 60 weekly challenges. It has four stages. Stage 2 can be unlocked by finding a key at Polar Peaks.
According to a rumor, Stage 3 is said to be related to the campfire.
Players are desperately searching for campfires
That’s why everyone is searching for campfires: According to the rumor, you need to light a campfire with the Prisoner at Stage 2 and warm up briefly. Just like it is shown in the leaked new cover image for Week 10 of Season 7. Then, Stage 3 of the skin is supposed to reveal itself.
Therefore, masses of players are currently running through the Fortnite map desperately looking for campfires that have not been burned yet. Often, there are fierce battles over the last remaining fire spots. Those who are eliminated early have to restart and may still have no luck.
That’s why all the effort is currently in vain: Unfortunately, the fights for the fires are currently pointless! So far, no player has been able to confirm that the campfires actually unlock Stage 3 of the Prisoner. It has no effect, and you get nothing but healing when using the campfires.
What do I need to do to get Stage 3? Currently, many players suspect that Stage 3 of the skin will only be available next Thursday, February 7, 2019. That’s when the image with the Prisoner and the campfire will be officially released.
