A video shows a Fortnite pro proving that a bug cost him the qualification for the World Championship and with it a guaranteed $50,000.
What money is at stake? Players can currently qualify for the Fortnite World Championship, which boasts a hefty prize of $3 million for the first place.
But even if you just qualify for the World Championship, Fortnite already gives you $50,000. And exactly this amount a player did not receive because he lost a match due to a bug. According to the streamer, it was the only reason he failed to qualify.

Which player is involved? Owen “Animal” Wright is a professional Fortnite player for the team Sentinels. He played in the qualifiers for the Fortnite World Championship last weekend.
What happened? As the clip begins, the match looks pretty solid for Animal. He has several hundred materials, various weapons with enough ammunition, shield potions, and a glider.
He flies into the safe zone with his glider, sees enemies there, and tries to build right after landing. But none of his walls build up. Panic sets in, and he attempts to erect further walls, but that doesn’t work. In the end, he gets taken out and finishes the match in 26th place.
On Twitter, Animal writes about the video: “The only reason I did not qualify. This is a $50,000 bug. I am incredibly sad and truly believe I deserve a spot because I played very well. What can you do?”
As DotEsports reports, however, Animal needed to earn 11 more points in that match to secure his qualification.
Another player faced a bug when building (Caution, loud):
Pro explains the Turbo Build Bug in Fortnite – What happened?
What is the building issue in Fortnite? YouTuber ImSpeedyGonzales noticed the Twitter video from Animal and explains that this building issue has existed for a while. This could be the bug present in Turbo Building.
In Patch 8.30, Epic changed an important feature in Fortnite: Battle Royale. You can now choose what you want to build next while flying with the glider and activate that build.
“The ability to switch between items while gliding in quick access has been added.”
Gonzales explains that this function is responsible for the bug. “If you select the wall element [while gliding] after Patch 8.30 and click Turbo Build, the wall will not be erected.”

How do you fix the bug? According to Gonzales, you need to release the Turbo Build key and press it again to create the wall or other builds after landing.
It is not entirely clear whether this was really the bug that occurred with Animal. However, Gonzales’ explanation fits very well with the video shown.

What does Epic say about this? On Reddit, MrPopoTFS comments on ImSpeedyGonzales’ video, thanking him for the detailed video. He confirms that they are aware of the problem and are already working on a solution.
However, it is still unclear whether anything will change regarding Animal’s qualification.
