It’s been long enough that we’ve talked about the best weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It is time to look at the other end of the food chain. We wanted to know from you which weapon will never make it into your inventory because it
- does too little damage,
- is unwieldy,
- isn’t versatile enough, or
- just looks stupid.

Rank 3 of the worst weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale – Suppressed Submachine Guns and Pistols
On third place, there are two weapons: the suppressed submachine guns and the standard pistols. Both representatives secured 14 percent of the votes – more than 500 votes per weapon.
Interesting: The two weapon types are among the most common in the entire game. The second place weapon plays in the same league at most. A pistol will most often be handed to you first by the game, whether you like it or not.
The suppressed submachine gun has the advantage of being very quiet and can deal decent damage at close range. The major disadvantage: the tactical SMG is superior to it in every respect. If you absolutely want to play with submachine guns, always go for the tactical variant, which also has an epic (purple) quality tier.
The standard pistols are also usable at close range. However, really only in the first seconds of a round. Once you stumble upon a pump shotgun, you should definitely switch to this weapon for close combat distance.
If you like to play with pistols, you can also go for the suppressed variant. While it is rarer, it deals more damage – and makes hardly any noise!
Rank 2 of the worst weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale – Revolver
The silver medal goes to a weapon category that has been significantly increased in recent weeks – the revolver. Nearly 600 players, or 16 percent of the votes, chose the revolver as the worst firearm in the game.
The weapon shoots slowly and especially at long distances, you will have difficulties with it. The blue (rare) variant is also really rare and is almost never found.
If you have a good eye, you can rack up some decent kills with the revolver at the beginning of a round. With perfect initial precision, you can take out many opponents as long as you’re not moving. However, once players start running around with full shields, you should definitely reconsider your weapon choice.
If you really want to play with this weapon category, you should go for the (rarer) hand cannon. It deals significantly more damage and works against single enemy structures as well.
Rank 1 of the worst weapons in Fortnite: Battle Royale: The Crossbow
It was introduced for the Valentine’s Day event but received little love in the survey. More than 800 players, or 22 percent of the voters, chose the crossbow as the worst weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale.
Yet, the crossbow is actually a cool weapon. It is silent, you have unlimited ammunition, and you can even take your enemies into your sights through a scope.
Unfortunately, it only works suboptimally. Skilled players can locate the arrows fired from a crossbow if they hit a nearby structure. You also cannot use the crossbow to attack enemy dwellings, as the arrows do no damage to buildings etc.
Even a critical hit does not knock your opponent off their feet if they have full shields. The biggest downside of the weapon is the trajectory of the arrows, which behaves completely differently than with other ranged weapons.
If you want to play with a ranged weapon, we recommend the hunting rifle or a bolt-action sniper. With these weapons, you will achieve significantly better results.
