The fans of Grand Theft Auto are eagerly waiting for the release of GTA 6 and a former developer from Rockstar Games also wants to play the action game. He has high expectations.
Who is the Rockstar developer? Obbe Vermeij is a former developer from Rockstar Games. He worked there for almost 14 years, from 1995 to 2009, as a technical director for Rockstar North in Edinburgh, Scotland.
During his time at Rockstar, he contributed to various GTA titles, including the legendary GTA San Andreas. He was also involved in GTA 3, Vice City, Vice City Stories, GTA 4, and its expansions “The Lost and Damned” and “The Ballad of Gay Tony.”
On X.com, Vermeij was asked if he would play GTA 6 and what he expected from the action game. The former developer’s answer could not be clearer.
“It will be the best game of all time”
What does the developer say about GTA 6? Initially, Vermeij stated that he would play GTA 6 and then added his high expectations for the game: “I think it will be the best game of all time.”
He then added that it could be almost as good for him as a popular indie game: “I believe it will be almost as much fun for me as Stardew Valley.”
Stardew Valley is considered one of the best games on Steam. The farming simulation released in 2016 impresses with its strong social system despite pixel graphics. Of over 715,000 reviews on Steam, a staggering 98% (!) are positive. This makes it one of the top 3 highest-rated games on the platform, alongside Portal 2 and People Playground (via SteamDB).
Whether GTA 6 can at least become the best game of 2025 is currently not a question of quality. So far, we do not know a release date for the highly anticipated game, and there are also rumors and speculations that GTA could be released only in 2026.
Just recently, a well-known and highly connected industry insider said that he believes the latest installment of Grand Theft Auto will actually be delayed and will not be released until 2026. A possible factor for such a delay is a promise from Rockstar Games: GTA 6: Insider is sure that the release will be delayed.
