Who is it about? Seth “Scump” Abner (29) is a former “Call of Duty” professional. To this day, he is considered one of the best CoD players in the world and is extremely well-known among fans of the shooter.
- On Twitch, Scump has 1.7 million followers and regularly streams to over 14,000 viewers.
- With Call of Duty, Scump has won over 1.19 million US dollars in prize money.
- In 2016, Scump received the award for “Esports Console Player of the Year”.
- In 2017, Scump became world champion in CoD: Infinite Warfare with OpTic Gaming.
In January 2023, Scump ended his career as a professional CoD player. He last played for Team Envy. Today, he works as a content creator for OpTic Gaming and plays various shooters in live streams on Twitch – but still primarily Call of Duty.
On October 30, Scump was a guest on the podcast “Around The Bar” by Davis “Hitch” Edwards, who is also a content creator for OpTic Gaming (via YouTube).
Retirement after the world championship title to play another game
What does Scump regret? Scump shares in the podcast that he regrets some decisions he made in the past. For instance, he is annoyed that he did not retire from his CoD pro career years ago and instead played and streamed Fortnite.
Scump’s conversation partner, Hitch, then asked whether he would tell his former self to retire after winning the world championship title and play Fortnite. Scump confirmed the thought: “Yes. I love competitive gaming more than anything, obviously, it was my whole life, but that is one thing I regret.”
During the great rise of Fortnite, Scump continued to play Call of Duty professionally – however, he was not able to win another world championship title.
Scump would have liked to benefit from the Fortnite hype
Why does he regret it? This regret primarily relates to Scump’s view of the hype that Fortnite had. Many streamers who made Fortnite their main game in 2017 and 2018 did financially very well.
The viewership of various streamers skyrocketed with Fortnite and remained quite high for a long time. Content creators like Ninja and TimTheTatman experienced extreme growth. Ninja himself recently also mentioned something he regrets from the Fortnite era: Ninja explains what he regrets from when he was number 1 on Twitch due to Fortnite – and it is bold
