In Pokémon GO you can regularly battle the members of Team GO Rocket. A recent find has revealed 8 new Shadow Pokémon, including a new legendary one. We at MeinMMO will show you the monsters and tell you what the community says about these finds.
What Pokémon are we talking about? When you face the members of Team GO Rocket, you’ll notice that they possess completely different monsters than you can normally catch. These are called Shadow Pokémon. You can recognize them by their purple smoke and red eyes.
Both the Grunts of Team GO Rocket and the bosses Arlo, Sierra, Cliff, and Giovanni use such monsters in their battles. After winning a battle, you can even catch one of the Shadow Pokémon.
Now the PokeMiners have found a total of eight new Shadow Pokémon, and one of them seems to be Giovanni’s next legendary monster. We will show you on MeinMMO which Shadow Pokémon you can expect from Team GO Rocket soon.
The PokeMiners are a group of data miners. They regularly search the game’s source code for new information and make their findings publicly available to other trainers. This way, planned changes such as new features or Pokémon can already be known before a release.
However, these are not official insights from Niantic, so this data can be changed or deleted in the game at any time.
These are the findings on the 8 new Shadow Pokémon
As the reddit user martycochrane shows in his recent post, the PokeMiners have stumbled upon 8 new Shadow Pokémon in their latest search of the game code. The image shows the Shadow variants of Snubbull, Girafarig, Camaub with its evolution Camerupt, Shinx with its evolutions Luxio and Luxray, as well as the legendary Pokémon Latias.
When could these Shadow Pokémon come to the game? On Sunday, April 3, 2022, a Rocket event will start in Pokémon GO. While there aren’t any further details yet, it would be a good time to update the current teams of Team GO Rocket and introduce new monsters.
Especially the legendary Pokémon Latias would suggest a new team from Giovanni. Among the members of Team GO Rocket, Giovanni is the only one who uses legendary monsters. Since November, he has been battling with Psychic and Flying-type Pokémon Lugia. Therefore, it is quite possible that there will soon be a new legendary Shadow Pokémon available from him.
What do trainers say about these findings? Part of the reddit community finds the new Shadow Pokémon rather uninteresting. This is mainly because there are better candidates among most types that are more suitable for use in the GO Battle League and Raid battles.
And concerning Giovanni’s legendary Shadow Pokémon, many hoped for a different successor to Lugia. Comments found under the post include (via reddit.com):

Especially for use in raids, Shadow Pokémon can excel due to their increased attack value. As Luxray is one of the best Electric attackers in Pokémon GO and Latios is one of the best Dragons in the game, they could particularly benefit from this bonus. Nevertheless, there are also other monsters that are slightly better.
