Finally, we know how the integration of Call of Duty Warzone into the new CoD Black Ops Cold War will look and what the future holds for the popular battle royale. These are the plans for weapon and player progression, the prestige system, battle pass, and new map.
What is the integration of Warzone about? The battle royale mode Warzone is very popular and successful. Warzone is expected to run for years and connect various CoD releases as a constant – as is the case now with CoD Modern Warfare and the new Black Ops Cold War.
Many players have been wondering for a long time how this will look and function in detail. Both games are built on the same framework, but there are also differences. Now Activision has finally revealed its plans for Warzone.
Future of Warzone – Everything is changing
When will the integration of Cold War into Warzone occur? Starting with the launch of CoD Black Ops Cold War on November 13, Black Ops content will flow into all modes of Warzone.
On December 10, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 1 will start. With that and in subsequent seasons, more Cold War content will be added to the battle royale.
This is the roadmap for the CoD Cold War Season 1:
Is a new Warzone map coming? Activision still refers to Verdansk as the game world, but at one point mentions “and beyond.” Additionally, they appear to be teasing a new Warzone map with the image of the roadmap.
In the Classified Warzone Experience, a sort of map can be seen along with a text with some blacked-out passages. Among other things, the term “eniya Island” is partially cropped there. This is most likely referring to “Vozrozhdeniya Island” or “Rebirth Island.”
The island could already be visited in Black Ops 1; veterans might know it from the Rebirth mission. Furthermore, the island was used in real life as a secret testing facility for biological weapons by the Soviets.
Some now suspect that it could serve as a new map for Warzone or as an addition to the existing map.
Cross-Game Player Progression – With Prestige System
Key points in brief:
- There will be cross-game progression between CoD Cold War, Modern Warfare, and Warzone.
- The progression in Black Ops Cold War will be similar to Modern Warfare but will bring back the prestige system, allowing players to achieve higher ranks within a season than before.
- Cold War has this system from launch, and with the start of Season 1, it will be synchronized with CoD Modern Warfare and Warzone, making it universal. Players will be able to level up across all 3 games.
The leveling system in detail:
- Permanent military ranks for levels 1-55, these will remain forever but will be reset once at the start of Season 1 to enforce synchronization.
- Don’t worry – everything that was previously unlocked via the military ranks – for example, killstreaks, perks, weapons – will remain and be accessible.
- After the military ranks, seasonal levels (previously officer ranks) will follow – including the prestige system. These will be synchronized across all 3 titles.
What is Prestige about?
- The prestige system is supposed to allow players to unlock and use various cool rewards from the Black Ops universe, showcasing their status as veterans.
- The best way to level up in prestige will be to play Black Ops Cold War (but apparently not the only way). Corresponding challenges will focus on Cold War gameplay, XP events, and other planned advantages during the seasons.

Cross-Game Weapon Progression
The key points about weapons:
- With Season 1, all weapons available in CoD Cold War and CoD Modern Warfare will also be available in Warzone – including blueprints and different camo versions.
- Weapons can be leveled up across Warzone and in their respective game from which they come.
- There are no plans to remove any existing weapons from Warzone.
- Weapons from CoD MW cannot be used in Black Ops Cold War, and vice versa.
- Logos will clearly indicate in Warzone where the weapon originally comes from.
- At the start of Season 1 from Cold War, perks, equipment, field upgrades, and specific killstreaks from Modern Warfare will remain in Warzone.
Wide Operator Selection
What you need to know about operators:
- Any operator that you have unlocked (purchased or earned) in Modern Warfare or Cold War can be played in Warzone.
- Skins, finishing moves, etc., will remain.
- Operators are playable across Warzone and their respective title.
Battle Pass can be leveled in 3 games
The key points about the Battle Pass:
- The battle pass system from Modern Warfare will also be retained in CoD Cold War.
- Season 1 brings new content for Warzone and Black Ops Cold War
- Progress in the battle pass can be achieved in all 3 games – in Modern Warfare, Cold War, and Warzone.
- Content from the new battle pass is only available for Cold War and Warzone, but can also be unlocked in Modern Warfare.
- Unlocked content will be displayed in the game – regardless of which of the 3 you are currently playing.
You should note this in the in-game shops
The in-game shops will be slightly restructured at the launch of Season 1 of CoD Cold War for their respective games. The focus will be on items that can be used in the respective title. Items that can also be used across Warzone will be clearly marked.
- Black Ops Cold War Store: will offer Cold War items, most of which can also be used in Warzone.
- Warzone Store: offers a mix of items from Cold War and Modern Warfare, most of which can be used in Warzone and the game for which they were created.
- Modern Warfare Store: will focus on items from Modern Warfare, most of which can be used in Warzone.
