Square Enix announces that the eviction of houses in Final Fantasy XIV will be temporarily suspended. The reason for this is the Corona crisis.
This is the situation: Housing in Final Fantasy XIV has been a hot topic for years. Since the number of available houses in residential areas is limited, many players are left empty-handed.
Especially on full servers, it is difficult to get a house of your own and people tend to hold on to theirs tightly. To do this, they must visit their house regularly, otherwise eviction threatens after 45 days.
Square Enix has now reassured homeowners with the recent announcement that they might not lose their homes anytime soon.
What has Square Enix said? The FFXIV team has now informed its players that the automatic eviction will be suspended from March 26 – and for all servers.
It is not yet known when the eviction will be reintroduced. However, the team promised that they will monitor the situation and will publish further announcements as soon as a decision is made regarding the end date of the measure.
This is not the first time FFXIV has suspended eviction. Normally, this measure was initiated in the event of natural disasters. These included:
- Hurricane Michael in the USA.
- Typhoon Faxai in Chiba, Japan.

What should I as a homeowner keep in mind? If you are one of the lucky ones in Final Fantasy XIV who own a house, the following points apply to you:
- The eviction timer will be disabled from March 26
- If a property already has an eviction timer, it can be lifted by entering the house.
- After the measure ends, the timer will be reactivated at the point where it was paused.
You can find the eviction timer in the game content menu tabs -> Timer -> Housing. There you can check whether your house is at risk or not.
There is currently a rumor among players that the automatic eviction has not been mistakenly stopped, but that the timer for the houses continues to run.
We have no concrete evidence for this yet. However, you should still visit your houses just to be safe if you haven’t been able to do so recently.
