Due to a gap in the system, a player in Final Fantasy XIV is trapped in their own guild and the Game Masters can do nothing about it.
Everyone knows it: now and then, everyone takes a break and doesn’t log into their MMO for a while. This was the case with Reddit user johnmark1982, who experienced an unpleasant surprise after logging back into FFXIV.
He is trapped in his own Free Company, the guild, and cannot leave it.
The new guild leader is to blame
But how did this happen? When johnmark1982 returned to the game after a long break, he found that there was only one other person left in the Free Company besides himself: the new leader.

Accordingly, he decided to leave the dead FC to find a new one, but this turned out to be impossible. He cannot leave the Free Company. What happened was as follows:
- Due to inactivity, the player automatically lost the rights of the guild leader, which were passed on by the system to another player.
- The new leader kicked all other players out of the Free Company and johnmark1982 lost all rights.
- This prevents johnmark1982 from entering the guild house where he owns a room.
- To leave the company, this room must be removed by the owner.
With the help of this gap in the system, the new leader is now keeping the poor player trapped. The guild leader merely logs in every few days to retain the leader rights and the guild house and shows no interest in changing the situation.
The Game Masters are helpless
Logically, johnmark1982 contacted the Game Masters of Final Fantasy XIV, who were supposed to help him out of this situation, but they too could do nothing.

During johnmark1982’s absence, the new guild leader acquired a new house through the moving feature:
- To use their rooms, players must have entered the room at least once after moving house.
- Due to the removal of all rights, johnmark1982 cannot enter the new house and thus his room.
This led to johnmark1982’s room in the new house not having “materialized” yet, meaning it has not been instantiated and cannot be found by the Game Masters on the server.
As harassment of other players, the behavior of the new leader cannot be seen according to the GMs, since he adheres to all the rules of Final Fantasy XIV.
