The release of the FIFA 23 Standard Edition is just one day away. All information about the launch.
When is the FIFA 23 release? Officially, FIFA 23 launches on September 30, 2022 – at least for the Standard Edition. Before that, you could already:
- Play in advance with the 10-hour trial
- Or as a pre-order customer start early with the Ultimate Edition
Now the “normal” version of the game is also starting.
Is there a preload? Yes, both on PC and consoles, you can already download FIFA 23 so that you can start as soon as the release begins.
Release time for FIFA 23 and Xbox trick with New Zealand
When can I play FIFA 23? The digital version of the FIFA 23 Standard Edition should be unlocked at 00:00 local time on the night from Thursday to Friday. From this point on, you can play if you have already downloaded the game.
What is the Xbox trick? On Xbox, there is a popular trick to push the release time forward a little bit.
To do this, you simply need to switch your Xbox to the New Zealand time zone.
- Go to your Xbox settings
- Select the settings for language and location
- Change your location to “New Zealand”
The start in New Zealand at 00:00 corresponds to 13:00 here. In the past, even with the Ultimate Edition, you could enter the game earlier on Xbox this way. So it should be possible with the Standard Edition from September 29, 13:00.
On PlayStation, however, this approach is not advisable since you have to create a separate account, which you would also need to continue playing.
What’s new in FIFA 23? In FIFA 23, you can play various modes around football.
- In Kick-Off, you simply play against friends or AI. There you can try out the new gameplay well.
- There are also fun friendly modes like “Surprise Ball” or “Survival”
- In Career Mode, you take over a club of your choice and lead it to the top of the world. This time you can also play as real coaches.
- In Volta, you can play a somewhat freer version of street football. On weekends, there are also crazy mini-games.
- Pro Clubs lets you play 11 against 11 online.
- And in Ultimate Team, you try to build an increasingly stronger team and defeat online opponents. This mode is accompanied by new events throughout the year and offers various playstyles.
- In Division Rivals, you can earn weekly rewards.
- The Weekend League is the place for the toughest matches.
- In Draft, you get a random selection of players.
- In “FUT Moments,” you replay short situations – this is a new mode in FIFA 23.
- And Squad Battles reward you with rewards for matches against AI.
What else is new in FIFA 23? The gameplay has been adapted for FIFA 23, “Hypermotion 2” is supposed to double the number of animations. Particularly striking is, for example, the new power shot in FIFA 23:

Especially PC players may notice several changes this year because the PC version has received all the features that are available on next-gen consoles this year – unlike previous years. This is mainly about Hypermotion and the numerous new animations that are supposed to make the gaming experience more realistic. On the “old” consoles, this is currently missing.
