After the first two trailers of FIFA 23 presented a heap of innovations and adjustments of the new installment, fans noticed one thing that has nothing to do with gameplay.
In a few scenes, the superstars Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema were seen, and to the dismay of fans, it seems they have not received a gameface update again and still look as they did in previous years.
Visually, absolutely nothing has changed for the two superstars, even though the real versions of the star strikers have looked quite different for years.
What exactly is the problem? Top stars like cover star Mbappé, Haaland, Vinicius Jr., Grealish, and many others look remarkably similar to their real-life counterparts in the trailer material. However, Benzema and Messi, who will likely be among the best strikers in FIFA 23, have worn the same face for years and simply do not seem to age.
This is especially noticeable with the strikers’ facial hair. Messi hasn’t had a beard for about 2 years, while Benzema has been sporting a prominent full beard for some time now, without which it’s hard to imagine the Frenchman today.

This is what the community says: Reddit user Daroku64 (via reddit) posted a message expressing his frustration over the outdated face scans of the two top players. He receives much support from other FIFA fans who cannot believe that Messi and Benzema simply do not change.
