In Career Mode of FIFA, you can take over a team of your choice and lead it to the top of world football. However, the mode in FIFA 22 could use some new features. Here are some features that could improve the mode in FIFA 22.
Every year there is discussion about how the career mode in FIFA could be improved. In FIFA 21, the Career Mode already brought changes that leaned more towards football management.
For instance, player development was altered, providing more freedom: Players could have more influence on the development of talents and shape them into the players they need. Additionally, match simulation was improved.
In this regard, the career mode has made considerable progress. But how could the career mode in FIFA 22 be further optimized? Here are some features that the mode could greatly benefit from.
Online Career / Co-op Mode
What a change that would be! Players have been discussing for a long time that the offline mode could have a transition into the online space. The reason: They want to start a career mode with multiple players and compete against each other for league victories.
Currently, you can only take over a single club and compete with it against the AI-controlled competition for league titles, international trophies, or the best talents. A popular idea is also to fill a fully occupied league with online opponents – like a virtual Bundesliga, for example, where each player takes on one of the 18 starters. However, the implementation could be challenging – especially regarding the organization of a schedule.
However, at least an optional way to start a career with individual friends might be conceivable and would pull the career mode out of its offline existence and offer an exciting alternative to Ultimate Team. Co-op elements were increasingly integrated into FUT in FIFA 21 – could the career mode possibly follow?
Stadium Editor
What a change that would be! In Ultimate Team, you can customize your stadium almost at will since FIFA 21. In Career Mode, however, this is not possible. This is a feature that players have wished for a long time.
After all, you typically take over a team in Career Mode for several years and try to lead it to the top of the world. But while the squad becomes stronger and the trophy cabinet fills up, the stadium remains largely unchanged. Bringing more personality into this would be a significant step forward. This brings us to the next point.
More Personality for the Career
What a change would that be? That football sometimes tells great stories is probably well known to every football club. The local talent that becomes a world star, the small club that suddenly wins the championship, the national team that no one expected to succeed in a tournament – these are also the stories that make football so fascinating.
However, the career mode hardly writes such stories. There is too much standardization, too much repetition in the career. After spending 15 seasons at your club, you’ve pretty much seen everything multiple times. The only thing that reliably changes are the numbers in player ratings.
Therefore, the career mode could use a boost of personality. And this includes a whole range of changes.
For example, one option could be more ways to design press conferences or enhanced interaction with your own fans. The behavior of the supporters in the stadium could be more dynamic and diverse, perhaps through customizable chants or goal melodies – just as it now exists in FUT.
Another point would be a more detailed interaction with the players themselves. With the improved negotiation scenes, the career mode has already taken a good direction – this could be further developed. For instance, in the form of halftime talks that a manager can address to his players in important matches to give them a boost.
Overall, the individual players in the career could play a better role. For example, there are wishes in the FIFA subreddit that the career mode introduces a way to see cross-season statistics of players and somehow immortalize club legends in the club (via reddit). A player can currently score goals for a club for five seasons – but as soon as he is gone, he is forgotten.
What changes would you like to see for the career mode? Do you also want more personality for the mode? Or would you prefer changes to gameplay elements, such as talent development? Let us know in the comments! And find out everything about the FIFA 22 release here.
