You can now pre-order the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 21 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. This special edition also includes benefits for career mode fans – and not just FUT bonuses like in previous years. There is also time-limited content in the 2020 version.
This is the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 21: EA Sports is offering this year’s FIFA installment in three editions that differ in price and content. So there is
- the Standard Edition for €59.99 (PC), €69.99 (PS4, Xbox One)
- the Champions Edition for €79.99 (PC), €89.99 (PS4, Xbox One)
- and the Ultimate Edition for €89.99 (PC), €99.99 (PS4, Xbox One)
The Ultimate Edition is thus the most expensive version of FIFA 21, which essentially includes all bonuses from the cheaper editions and also grants additional bonuses. Since it costs nearly €100 for the consoles, many players are currently asking: “Is the Ultimate Edition really worth it for me?”
Overview of the FIFA 21 Ultimate Edition:
- Release: October 6, 2020
- Platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC (Steam, Origin)
- Price: €89.99 (PC), €99.99 (PS4, Xbox One)
- What about PS5, Xbox Series X? When FIFA 21 will be released on the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X is still unknown. However, if you buy FIFA 21 for PS4 or Xbox One, you will receive the corresponding next-gen version at no additional cost.

All pre-order benefits of the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 21 for FUT and Career
We will now take a detailed look at all the benefits of the Ultimate Edition and give an assessment of whether they are worth the €100. If you’re looking for a quick overview of all editions of FIFA 21, you can find them here.
This is what the Ultimate Edition of FIFA 21 offers:
- 3 days early access
- Career mode youth talent from the own youth with world-class potential
- Up to 24 Rare Gold FUT 21 Packs
- 1 Cover star FUT loan item for 5 FUT matches
- 1 FUT Ambassador loan player choice
- Special edition FUT jerseys and stadium items
- Time-limited offer: OTW card for FUT 21 (untradeable)

FIFA 21 with Early Access – You play the game as one of the first
This is the advantage: FIFA 21 actually has its global release on October 9. However, with the Ultimate Edition, you can start 3 days earlier. The early access for FIFA 21 is October 6, 2020.
Is it worth it for me? The 3-day early access plays an important role for many FIFA fans. It is considered a major argument for why players choose a special edition of the annual football simulation.
Most fans are concerned about not falling behind other players in Ultimate Team mode right from the start. Especially at the beginning of FUT 21, it’s crucial to quickly build a competitive team to be able to compete in the online modes. You don’t want to watch others as they build their ultimate teams while you still have to wait 3 days. For this early start alone, many fans are willing to pay the extra cost – the remaining bonuses are just a side note for them.
However, the Champions Edition also allows you early access. And it is €10 cheaper than the Ultimate Edition. Therefore, additional arguments are still needed for the most expensive version to be convincing.

Career mode youth talent with great potential
This is the advantage: You get a “youth talent from the own youth with world-class potential” for FIFA 21’s career mode.
This means: When you select your first club in FIFA 21 career mode that you want to manage, you receive the youth talent for that club. The talent is supposed to be a “local youngster” – meaning the player’s nationality matches the country of the league you manage your team in.
EA Sports states that this bonus in the form of a local youth player applies to every save file you create on your profile. It will also transfer from PS4 to PS5 and from Xbox One to Xbox Series X.

This is what makes this bonus special: In recent years, as with FIFA 20 and FIFA 19, special editions only offered bonuses for FUT. In FIFA 21, career mode fans finally have a benefit when purchasing a special edition.
It might indicate that EA Sports is giving more attention to the career mode this year – something fans have been demanding for years.
Is it worth it for me? If you don’t play career mode, this youth talent doesn’t benefit you at all. Otherwise, this bonus should be a nice and welcome surprise. After all, for many fans, the career experience is about training young talents, realizing their potential, and transforming them into world-class players.
However, keep in mind that you also receive the youth player with the Champions Edition. If you exclusively play career mode, you can save the extra €10 for the Ultimate Edition. The Standard Version does not offer this bonus.

24 Rare Gold Packs in FUT 21
This is the advantage: Only with the Ultimate Edition do you receive 12 weeks of 2 Rare Gold Packs each week as a pre-order bonus. In total, that’s 24 extra packs.
- With the Champions Edition, you receive half as many Rare Gold Packs, so 12
- With the Standard Edition, you receive 3 Rare Gold Packs
Is it worth it for me? If you spend €10 more, you get 12 Rare Gold Packs more compared to the Champions Edition. One of these packs usually costs 25,000 coins or 500 FIFA Points. This means you’re getting packs worth 6000 FIFA Points (12 x 500).
6000 FIFA Points correspond to around €50 (100 FIFA Points cost €0.99, but there are several bundles with bonus FIFA Points. 12,000 FIFA Points cost €99.99).

If you’re already willing to invest additional money into FUT 21, the Ultimate Edition is definitely worth it price-wise. However, keep in mind that you cannot open all 24 extra packs at once, but only two per week.
More FUT bonuses in FIFA 21
This is the time-limited offer: If you pre-order the Ultimate Edition by August 14, 2020, you will receive an untradeable OTW player for FUT 21. The offer is time-limited and applies solely to the Ultimate Edition. OTW stands for “Ones to Watch” and describes dynamic player cards that can automatically improve throughout the season – provided the player performs well in real football.

This is the Cover Star FUT loan item: You will receive a cover star loan item for 5 FUT matches. EA Sports states that they will reveal the new cover stars in the coming weeks, but they are expected to provide a significant boost for your FUT clubs. All pre-orderers of any FIFA 21 edition will receive a loan player.
This is the FUT Ambassador player choice: You can choose one from three player items for 3 FUT matches. These are the “FUT Ambassadors,” with which EA Sports will promote FUT 21. Which players these are will be announced later. All pre-orderers of any FIFA 21 edition will receive this bonus.
This is the jerseys and stadium items: A few cosmetic items for FUT 21 will be received by all pre-orderers of any FIFA 21 edition.
Is it worth it for me? The OTW cards are highly sought after by many FUT players. However, you need a lot of luck to really pull a good and usable OTW card. Because which one you get depends on chance. And since the OTW card from the pre-order bonus is untradeable, you cannot sell it for a lot of coins.
The remaining FUT 21 bonuses are “nice to have,” but not a purchasing argument for the Ultimate Edition.
