FIFA 21 was revealed by EA Sports. Here you can watch the reveal trailer for this year’s FIFA installment, which was presented at EA Play Live. The release date is also known. Under the motto “Feel Next Level”, FIFA 21 is coming to the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X – but also on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and even Steam (PC).
Here are the first details about FIFA 21: On June 19, 2020, EA showed a lot of material related to their upcoming games during “EA Play Live”, including FIFA 21. Football fans got to see a reveal trailer in the stream. Then, the “hard facts” about FIFA 21 – such as the release date, supported platforms, and next-gen information – followed on the official EA Sports website.
This is the reveal trailer for FIFA 21: We embed the trailer here for you:
Visual Power and Emotions – What the Reveal Trailer for FIFA 21 Shows
What the trailer is about: This year, there’s a major feature in the reveal trailer: The new FIFA game is presented alongside Madden NFL 21 in a trailer. Because both games – and both sports – have one thing in common: It’s about emotions and strong emotional moments.
While the gameplay scenes are powerfully staged in the background, several athletes say that “you feel everything” or that “you are not afraid of anything when you play.” The game is “the one true love.” The heart goes “Ba-Boom, Ba-Boom.” Whoever scores the goal becomes the hero.
Scenes from clubs like FIFA 21 can be seen:
- PSG
- Liverpool
- Chelsea
- and BVB
.

“I want to feel everything” – that’s how the trailer ends.
What innovations does FIFA 21 bring? EA Sports presents several innovations that, however, are specifically for the next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X:
- FIFA 21 uses the reactive haptic feedback of the DualSense controller of the PS5. You should be able to feel every shot, every pass, and every tackle.
- Super-fast loading times, allowing matches to start “in a few seconds”.
- A “Deferred Lighting System” that is supposed to offer new authentic environments and increased realism in representation.
- New body models and movements.
- Next-gen audio.
- Humanization of players – this is intended to create more authentic player behavior and more emotions.
- Better weather details.
- Explosive emotionality among players, players on the bench, and fans.
A new stadium from FIFA 21 can also be seen in the trailer.

Release Date of FIFA 21 – When is FIFA 21 coming out?
When will FIFA 21 be released? FIFA 21 celebrates its official release worldwide on October 9, 2020. That’s a Friday.
In recent years, the football simulation from EA has always been released in late September – about 2 weeks earlier. Therefore, many fans were surprised at the reveal. This year, a release in September was also expected.
However, October 9 is merely the release date of the standard edition of FIFA 21. This year, there will again be special editions, with which you can start a few days earlier.
There will be a
- Champions Edition
- and an Ultimate Edition
Here, the release date is October 6, 2020.
Through Origin Access or EA Access, it will likely start even earlier. The official page of Origin Access Premier states that the kick-off will happen “days before the release”.
The release date for PS5 and Xbox Series X is not yet known.

Will FIFA 21 be released on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, Switch, and Stadia?
These platforms are confirmed for FIFA 21: FIFA 21 will be released for PC and the current console generation, i.e., PS4 and Xbox One.
The next-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X will also be supported, as this official graphic from EA Sports highlights:

EA confirms that you can play FIFA 21 on PS5 or Xbox Series X at no additional cost if you have already purchased it on PS4 or Xbox One. Your progress in FUT 21 and Volta on the current gen will be transferred to the next gen. However, progress in other modes such as Pro Clubs or Career Mode will remain on the old console.
Important info about the PC version of FIFA 21: FIFA 21 will be available not only on Origin but also on Steam. The release on Steam is scheduled for October 9.
Will FIFA 21 come for the Switch? Yes, but only a “Legacy Edition” will be released – meaning you get the current kits and licensed clubs and teams, but the gameplay features and game modes correspond to those of FIFA 19 on the Nintendo Switch.
When FIFA 21 is released for the Switch, you should expect a significantly stripped-down version.
Will FIFA 21 be available for Stadia? Whether FIFA 21 will be available on Stadia remains to be seen. EA states that more information will be provided later this year.
What FIFA 21 needs to improve compared to FIFA 20 can be found here.
When will there be more news and information about FIFA 21?
This is the reveal timeline for the innovations in FIFA 21: Just two days ago, EA Sports released a roadmap. This shows when you will find out what innovations this year’s FIFA installment will feature:

However, this roadmap is not particularly specific. It merely shows that information about
- Gameplay
- Career Mode
- Volta
- Pro Clubs
- and Ultimate Team
will be coming in August.
This reveal phase is, by the way, starting a bit later than last year. The gameplay and the innovations in Pro Clubs of FIFA 20 were already revealed in July 2019.
Will there really be fresh news about FIFA 21 only in August? New information about FIFA 21 is likely to come to light in the coming weeks – especially in the form of new or lost licenses for teams, leagues, stadiums, or icons. For instance, in mid-July 2019, it became known that Juventus Turin will be known as Piemonte Calcio in FIFA 20 after Konami secured exclusive rights.
