In FIFA 21, the new Title Update 4 is launched. It brings a lot of changes again – and addresses, among other things, the confusing referees. It is now also available on PS4 and Xbox One.
When is Title Update 4 coming? The new major update is now available on PC via Origin and Steam.
Update, November 3: The new Title Update is now also available on PS4 and Xbox One. As with previous updates, it arrived a little later on consoles than for the PC version.
What’s in the update: The new update contains changes and fixes in all areas. The most important changes are presented to you here in an overview.
The most important changes in Title Update 4
Referees will be smarter: The referees in FIFA 21 sometimes make some very strange decisions. The current update now addresses some of the problems.
On one hand, the referee logic for potential yellow cards has been adjusted. There should now be fewer yellow cards issued. Until now, referees had a tendency to show yellow cards even for minor nudges and to immediately follow up with a second yellow for a small tackle.
In addition, there were situations where the referee ended the game in “inappropriate situations” during extra time, as explained in the patch notes. Players reported cases where an important goal was scored in stoppage time – but the referee blew the whistle for full time before the goal shot crossed the line. This should now also be corrected.
There were also situations in which a foul or tackle in the penalty area did not result in a penalty kick. This has also been improved.
How extensively the changes will affect the game remains to be seen. What is currently missing in the patch notes is the point that red cards that should actually have been issued, such as for a last-man tackle, are often sanctioned with yellow. Whether this is also part of the improved yellow card logic is still unclear.
Bug fixes and corrections: Besides the referees, the gameplay changes mainly refer to the correction of errors. For example, there were sometimes strange bouncing players or faulty inputs.
Changes in Ultimate Team
What is changing in Ultimate Team: There are also some specific changes in FUT. Among other things, you can now listen to sound items like anthems or goal songs on the transfer market if you are interested.
Additionally, the jerseys on the field only showed a gray placeholder instead of the club crest. This should now have changed and the crests should be displayed correctly.
Furthermore, the ping in lobbies was displayed incorrectly. It only showed the connection in one direction – now it shows it in both directions. Higher numbers are now to be expected, but this does not change the usual gameplay. This was only a visual issue.
In addition, many other bugs and errors have been fixed.
Changes in Career Mode
What is changing in Career Mode: Many minor errors have also been fixed in the Career Mode. These are primarily visual problems. For example, the training menu has been adjusted to better represent the training effect on the aggression rating.
There are also further errors, such as that player lock could not be used when jumping into the game from simulation. Additionally, there could be faulty questions in press conferences. And striker talents that you wanted to retrain from MS to ST could take unusually long to do so.
Further changes in Title Update 4
Also in Volta and Pro Clubs, some corrections have been made. For example, the menu in Volta has been improved and errors rectified. In Pro Clubs, there are also various bug fixes in menus and displays.
Furthermore, various crests, audio files, stadiums, and other visual aspects have been adjusted throughout the game. Various faulty camera jumps have been fixed. Overall, the list of corrections is very long – you can find the complete overview in the patch notes (via EA Sports).
Thus, FIFA 21 has already received its fourth update – and after the last patch, it is the second that brings a large number of changes. However, the last update included a problem when it went live on consoles: Share Play on PS4 suddenly stopped working.
