In FIFA 20 many fans noticed that there was a problem in the PS Store with the pre-order of their FIFA 20 edition. They are now afraid that the limited-time pre-order bonus for PS4 is lost.
This problem was discovered: Recently, a post on FIFA-reddit caused a stir. A PS4 user writes that his FIFA 20 pre-order in the PS Store was canceled. Specifically, it concerns the Ultimate Edition for PS4.
In early September, the order was automatically canceled and shortly thereafter repurchased. Now a date in September is displayed in the transaction history as the pre-order date of the FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition.
This happened silently in the background. There was no email notifying that a pre-order was canceled or repurchased. He discovered this by chance while reviewing his transactions.
Many fans have verified this and can confirm: Yes, this has happened to them too.
What’s so bad about it? The FIFA 20 Ultimate Edition has a special pre-order bonus. If you pre-order it before August 5, 2019, you will receive an untradeable OTW player.
OTW players, or “Ones to Watch”, are particularly exciting cards in Ultimate Team, as they are automatically upgraded throughout the season when the corresponding player performs well in real life and thus receives special cards in FUT 20. The OTW cards are usually quite expensive, which is why many fans wanted to grab this bonus.
However, since the old pre-order (before August 5th) has been canceled and a new one was placed in early September, many fans are wondering what will happen to their OTW card now.
The problem is caused by Sony
These are official responses to the question: Corey Andress, the Community Global Franchise Lead of FIFA 20, addressed this issue yesterday. He tweeted that he unfortunately has no insights. It’s a Sony problem as it happened in the PS Store. EA Sports has nothing to do with it.
The Twitter user Craig directed a furious tweet directly at Sony, highlighting the OTW player problem:
He received an official response from Ask PlayStation UK a few hours ago. The account writes that there was a problem in the system that needed to be fixed. This required refunds for purchases and then re-adding them. You will still receive the same edition that you previously purchased.
Craig followed up and asked if the pre-order content was still correct. PlayStation UK responded: “Yes, you should still have access to all relevant bonuses of the version you ordered.”
Corey Andress also spoke up shortly afterwards. The pre-order bonuses and limited-time bonuses should still be valid.
So it looks like you will receive your OTW player if you pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition before August 5th. PlayStation and EA are giving the all-clear.
