The “Path to Glory” cards are available in Ultimate Team in two versions, the Autumn and the Spring version. They operate similarly to “Ones to Watch” cards, meaning they are dynamic and can receive a rating upgrade when the player gets a special card.
This involves a selection of players who still have to fight for their place in the national squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. It has now been announced what will happen to the “Path to Glory” items during the World Cup.
“Path to Glory – Selection” – What it means for the new WZR cards
The “Path to Glory – Selected” cards will be those players who ultimately made it into their country’s squad. This means a new card design as well as the possibility of receiving upgrades in FUT 18 even during the summer.
Will my WZR card become a WZR Selection card?
Yes, existing cards will be modified and automatically receive the new design.
Will my normal Gold card also become a WZR Selection card?
No, only the “Path to Glory” cards will receive an upgrade to the new item version.
When will my WZR Selection card get a live upgrade?
In that regard, not much changes; if the player receives a special card (not TOTS) during the World Cup, the value of the PTG card will also increase.
How do I get the WZR Selection cards?
By speculating beforehand and purchasing the normal WZR cards, or waiting for the announcement and then securing them. Presumably, there will again be SBCs or even a week with the new player cards in packs.
When will the WZR cards become WZR Selection cards?
According to EA, the card will change as soon as the 23-man squad is announced at the beginning of June.
Path to Glory – This is the player cards in FUT 18
The “Path to Glory” team consists of national players who are hoping for a place in the national team. In other words, this team includes a selection of players who would like to participate in the World Cup but do not yet have a “starting position”.

From a German perspective, Sane, Wagner, Höwedes, and Stindl are included..
And this is the WZR Spring team and its 23 player cards:
Included are stars like Gonzalo Higuain, Thiago Alcantara, Mauro Icardi or Isco. German PTG Spring cards include Leon Goretzka, Ilkay Gündogan and Marvin Plattenhardt.
What is special about the “Path to Glory” cards?
These cards are “live items” – they work essentially the same way as “Ones to Watch” cards. This means: They can automatically be upgraded throughout the season.
If the “Path to Glory” player receives a TOTW card, a Man of the Match card, a Hero card, or a Record Breaker card during the FUT 18 season, the “Path to Glory” card will automatically adjust to this upgraded card.
In other words: If the player performs well in real life, your “Path to Glory” card will keep getting better.
This adjustment happens immediately, as soon as the player receives a better card. It doesn’t matter whether the PTG card is in your team or on the transfer market.
The position of the PTG player remains the same, even if a TOTW card has a different position.
By the way: During the “Path to Glory” event, there were also new SBCs. Emiliano Rigoni, Jermain Defoe, Mario Gomez, and Jonathan Viera Ramos were available as untradeable PTG cards.
