When does the free weekend take place? Embers Adrift has already started its free weekend. It began on Friday, January 27 at 07:00 and runs until Monday, January 30 at 07:00.
To participate, you need to register on the Embers Adrift website and then download the game. According to the developers, you can use the time until Monday morning to try the game as a newcomer or see what has improved or changed as a returning player.
What does Ember Adrift cost? If you want to continue playing after the weekend, you need to buy the game, as Embers Adrift is not a F2P game:
- Embers Adrift is offered for $39.99 plus taxes (during the weekend $29.99), which includes one month of gameplay.
- After that, however, you’ll have to subscribe for a price of €9.99 per month.
- In the game itself, there isn’t currently a real-money shop or similar options to spend money.

What kind of game is Embers Adrift? Embers Adrift was released on October 15, 2022, making it just over three months old. The game is a PvE sandbox MMORPG that does not include PvP content. You won’t face other players in the open world or arenas.
In the game, players are meant to create their own adventures, which means there is little guidance given. For instance, there are no markers or a minimap. Instead, you need to read quest texts carefully and orient yourself to complete a task.
In this way, Embers Adrift is “old-school,” which also applies to the game’s graphics. Fans of modern, crisp graphics may be disappointed here.
These quests are an important part of the gaming experience, just like challenging bosses or dungeons. Players can expect difficult challenges right in the starting area, for instance in the form of powerful enemies. You can attack them at any time, but it may not necessarily be advisable.
