The Diablo head hinted that new information about the Closed Beta of Diablo 4 will come in February 2023. The IGN Fan Fest will take place on February 17 and 18 – at which the announcement is likely to happen. But when is the Beta?
The most important things about Diablo 4:
- Diablo 4 will be released on June 6, 2023, and will start with 5 classes at launch. In our hub, you will find all the info about Diablo 4.
- The first tests already took place in 2022, back then under strict confidentiality. Nevertheless, some fans shared their first impressions of Diablo 4.
- Further testing is supposed to occur before the release, including at least one Open Beta where everyone can test the game. A date for this is still missing, but it should soon be clear when it will start.
What the head says: The Diablo head Rod Fergusson has made sure on Twitter that fans can expect an announcement date for the Beta. When asked if he could say anything about the Open Beta, Fergusson responded in a tweet:
“Soon! If only we were at some kind of gaming moment this month where something like this could be announced…” In fact, the IGN Fan Fest will take place on February 17 and 18, 2023.
The US site IGN has already announced that Diablo 4 will appear at the Fan Fest with new information. IGN and Blizzard have previously worked closely together in interviews and discussed topics such as, that Diablo 4 will get the best features from its predecessors.
Now there is speculation that the event will be used to announce the Open Beta of Diablo 4.

Start of the Open Beta for Diablo 4 – When does it start?
For some time now, experts and fans have been giving their own estimates about when the Open Beta for Diablo 4 will take place. The most commonly suggested guesses are:
- already at the end of February, at least for a closed test
- “sometime” between March and May
- mid-April, as the Diablo streamer wudijo suspects (via GameStar).
However, Blizzard might surprise everyone and simply open the Open Beta directly at the end of the IGN Fan Fest to excite the fans. That would be rather unusual, but it wouldn’t be the first time something like that has happened. And the first press reactions are already enthusiastic:
To primarily test the MMO features of Diablo 4 thoroughly, a longer test period would be appropriate, which is why late March or mid-April is likely the latest time at which the test should start.
