In a livestream, the largest German streamer for Fallout 76, Jakob0687, along with a jury honors the most beautiful C.A.M.P.s of the German-speaking community. MeinMMO was there and asked Jakob about the event.
What kind of event is this? In the event, Jakob presents the most beautiful C.A.M.P.s of the German-speaking community together with three other jury members. Basically, anyone can participate; registration takes place through Jakob’s Twitch stream or the community Discord.
A weekly or bi-weekly event is planned, depending on the number of registrations. The next contest will take place in the evening on November 5, 2020. The focus is on the community. The winner will receive a scrapper blueprint, worth between 7,000 and 10,000 caps.
Who is the streamer? Jakob is currently the most watched streamer in the German-speaking area playing Fallout 76 on Twitch. With over 14,000 hours in the last 90 days, he is firmly in first place (via sullygnome).
The most beautiful C.A.M.P.s of the community
This Camp won: In the livestream, the jury showcased several C.A.M.P.s. In the end, the jury was convinced by the C.A.M.P. of Akktros. It shows a beautiful property that looks as if it belongs exactly there in the world:
How this Camp won: Akktros C.A.M.P. is located in the south, west of Wade Airport, and was idyllically built by the water. Due to its location, heavy foot traffic is to be expected. Low-level players also often roam the area.
The construction style of the country house, suited to the ambiance, was highlighted. The C.A.M.P. looks as if it is permanently in the game and not built by a player.
From the porch, the player directly accesses an open space with Nuka-Cola benches and all the necessary workbenches. Two vending machines complete the basement.
That the jury can be very critical is shown by the evaluation of the C.A.M.P.s:
- The floor plates do not cover all the flowers
- A separation between the workshop and vending machines was desired
More Camps from the community: Although Akktros’s Camp ultimately won, there were many contenders who were also vying for the crown. We have embedded the participant camps here in the gallery:
Perhaps these camps will inspire you to participate in the next event yourself. If you need further tips, there is a player in our community who builds camps for you. Here you will surely find more useful information.
What makes the event and the community so special
This is how the housing event works and how it will be evaluated:
The jury consists of four permanent members:
- Jakob as streamer – entertainment and reporting are at the forefront, providing a subjective opinion
- Lupa – has a lot of knowledge about base building and evaluates the C.A.M.P.s under strict criteria
- Rotzi – has been a fixed part of the community since the beginning and is very active on Reddit
- Sera – a Fallout 76 streamer herself, places a high value on realistic C.A.M.P.s
The evaluation takes place on a scale from 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest rating. There is no influence among the jury, and each of the four jurors gives their opinion about the respective C.A.M.P.
The idea itself emerged rather spontaneously, as Jakob reports in the interview with MeinMMO:
We sat together in the stream and had already played many events together long before the contest: completing queens, helping ourselves or newcomers with quests, and wanting to ease newcomers into the game.
I was often asked if I could show a C.A.M.P. in the livestream. There were really cool C.A.M.P.s, like an openable dollhouse, or the “Jakob Asylum” – where someone built a mental hospital for me. There I was “admitted” in roleplay. A viewer in the chat then had the idea of an event on the topic of housing. The idea was very well received, and then we brainstormed together in the stream. The event itself is thus “owed” to the community.
Housing and building are generally important topics for players. Already in an interview with MeinMMO, Fallout 76 head Jeff Gardiner mentioned that players sometimes put in hours-long sessions just to work on their camps.
The winning C.A.M.P. of Akktros in the video: Jakob has published a tour of the winning camp as a video on his YouTube channel. There you can also find more information about the event and the evaluation:

What makes the German-speaking Fallout 76 community so special:
Jakob describes the German-speaking Fallout 76 community as a very warm and mutually supportive community. Regardless of whether freshly started or veteran: the majority of players greatly appreciate the solidarity.
The players help and support each other. Regardless of whether ammunition is needed, flux, scrap, or materials, people lend a hand to one another. It is a very active, gaming-friendly, and open community – even for newcomers.
But it can also be very critical and sometimes a bit too harsh, but mostly fair. The criticism should always be constructive.
The secret of a beautiful and functional C.A.M.P. in Fallout 76
As the largest streamer in the German area and as the organizer of this event, we first wanted to know from Jakob how to actually build a good Camp. However, there does not seem to be a formula for success.
MeinMMO: Do you have tips for building a nice C.A.M.P. for our readers?
Jakob: That’s a good question. Everyone who knows my Camp knows that it is rather functionally designed.
Let your creativity guide you and choose a theme. For example, a Red Rocket mall. The C.A.M.P. should fit the surroundings and the overall package should match.
“I can’t let go anymore!”
In addition to questions about the German-speaking community, we also asked the largest German-speaking Fallout 76 streamer some personal questions.
MeinMMO: How long have you been playing Fallout 76?
Jakob: I have been playing Fallout 76 since release, have played until level 138, then felt I had done everything, was a bit disappointed and frustrated, like many others, and stopped. Now I have been back since May/June 2020 and can’t let go anymore! But that’s not only due to the game but also to the great community!
I have been actively playing the Fallout series since Fallout 3, but I also recently played 1 and 2.
MeinMMO: What personally motivates you about Fallout 76?
Jakob: I’m pretty simple. I’m a huge fan of the post-apocalypse and soak up everything I find. Books, movies, series. The Fallout series is THE ultimate post-apocalyptic scenario for me, and I can’t get enough of the series.
Sure, with single-player games, you play through them once a year or every two years. But in 76, you have a cool community, play together, there’s something to do every day, and when you’re bored, you build a Camp. Now with the legendary cards it finally makes sense to play up to level 300 since the last card slot is unlocked there. The overall package of Fallout 76 makes sense: multiplayer, cool story as mentioned: the amazing community.
I would also like to mention that I often play off-stream, and when I see someone new, I’m happy to help them. With One Wasteland, it often happens that the mobs are too strong, and I like to support there. It also gives you a good feeling when you know you helped someone.
MeinMMO: Finally, we would like to know what you wish for Fallout 76.
Jakob: There are two things I often talk about. This, however, is my subjective opinion: It looks on the map to the right and left as if someone had thought something there. I really hope for a map extension.
The second wish is something very simple: an event or a spot on the map with deathclaws. These are unfortunately a rare commodity in Fallout 76. The deathclaws are one of the coolest monsters in the Fallout universe and there just aren’t enough of them in 76.
MeinMMO: Thank you for the interview!
If you still find the camps to be limited, you should keep an eye on the upcoming update Steel Dawn. There are shelters, your own vaults that you can build and decorate. Here you can further unleash your creativity, as many restrictions will be lifted.
