Bethesda has introduced the upcoming update for Fallout 76. At the center is a new raid for endgame players featuring a challenging boss. Besides that, there are more new features.
What has been announced? The December update brings some new content for Fallout 76, which is one of the best survival games on the market in 2024. On the occasion of Fallout Day on October 23, 2024, the update was presented in a showcase.
This includes a new raid called “Radiant Depths.” Additionally, there will be pets for your camp, the option to fish, and to transform into a ghoul starting from a certain level. Let’s take a closer look at the new features.
A raid for endgame players
What is the raid about? “Radiant Depths” takes players to an underground research facility in the Ash Heap area. The Enclave was active there and worked with the radioactive material Ultracite.
The objective now is to find out what happened in the facility. Players will face multiple combat scenarios in teams of four – because the lab is filled with enemies. Once it begins, there is no turning back: “You win, or you die,” describes Creative Director John Rush the raid during the showcase on YouTube.
In the end, the final boss named Ultracite Horror awaits the brave adventurers. According to developer Erin Bower, he is the largest boss in the game so far, and perhaps even the largest in the entire Fallout history

To defeat him and complete the raid, a level of 300 or higher is required. It is also crucial for the teams to communicate well and to have high-level gear. The “Radiant Depths” are designed to feel like a traditional MMO dungeon and to challenge players in the endgame effectively.

How can you play as a ghoul? Another new feature that will surely please some players is the option to transform into one of the creepy wasteland inhabitants. This is possible starting at level 50 and is tied to a quest.
What else does the update bring? Additionally, a new activity, fishing, has been announced. More information about this will come towards the end of the year. It has been confirmed that fishing can be done at every water source.
For those who prefer to keep animals in their camp instead of fishing, that will also be possible soon. Players will have to choose between a dog and a cat. In both cases, the furry companion will move into the camp and can be outfitted with various accessories, such as collars.
