Today, the 5th Monster from Evolve was revealed: The Gorgon spews a lot of poison and will also lay its brood near you starting from November.
Halloween is narrowly missed
The fifth monster of Evolve finally has a confirmed release date. Starting from November 3rd, the Gorgon will be available to all players who own either the Hunting Season Pass 2 or the Monster Race Edition. Those who do not own either can purchase the new monster lady separately for €10 in the shop.
A small trailer already gives us a taste of the creepy creature.
What can the Gorgon do?
The abilities of the Gorgon promise variety and a lot of fun, appearing significantly more refined in today’s livestream than the Behemoth did at that time. Let’s take a quick look at the individual attacks:
Traveling Ability: Spider Silk – In its movements, the monster lady has clearly been inspired by Spiderman. It shoots a spider silk in one direction and “pulls” itself along this line. During the pulling, a new position can be selected, allowing for up to 3 jumps in a row. The Gorgon can also pull itself to a wall and remain there. If it attacks from this position, its next attack is automatically a stealth attack.
Strengths and Weaknesses of the Lady
The Gorgon is ruthless in tight environments, as hunters can hardly escape its Acid Spit and the explosion of the Mimic. However, it is poor at actively pushing back enemies, as none of its abilities have strong knockback to drive hunters away. In terms of play style, it falls somewhere between the stealth attacks of the Wraith and the ranged combat of the Kraken.
During the livestream, gameplay scenes were shown today, and several test matches were conducted. Although I felt that the hunters kept giving the monster player time to showcase all abilities, I am excited for the Gorgon. It looks like an enormous amount of fun and there’s nothing scarier than suddenly having a spider drop from the ceiling onto an unsuspecting hunter.
