Pokémon GO has been all about Dynamax for a few weeks now. MyMMO author Paul Kutzner doesn’t find the feature very exciting at all.
For a few weeks now, there has been the new Dynamax feature in Pokémon GO. With this, you can battle with gigantic versions of some monsters.
While many trainers of Pokémon GO around me are excited about the new feature, there is one person who is not so thrilled – me.
Expensive upgrades, boring battles
What excites me in Pokémon GO? Pokémon GO offers activities for many different tastes into which one can invest their time. Some trainers primarily focus on collecting Pokémon. However, I am most interested in battling.
While I am also active in the battle league, where my team was recently severely devalued, I am particularly drawn to battling in raids. Defeating strong Pokémon with a strong team and as few other trainers as possible is one of my main motivations in Pokémon GO.
Collecting more monsters that belong to the best attackers in Pokémon GO to then defeat even more strong monsters alone, in pairs, or in trio is incredibly fun for me.
Why am I not interested in Dynamax? The new Dynamax feature offers little for this purpose of the game. Of course, I can receive some regular candies by placing Dynamax monsters in power sources. However, these are not monsters I use in raids at all. Or, in the case of Charmander, monsters of which I already have more than enough candies and examples.
Additionally, I do not want to invest candies, and even less XL candies, to unlock Dyna attacks or level up the Dyna monsters. Special candies that I receive through the battle league, I prefer to invest in my legendary raid Pokémon. And XL candies are so rare that I take a long time to weigh what I use them for.
The second important point is the way Dyna battles unfold. Personally, I find the battles are not designed to be very exciting, so besides the potential resources that I do not want to invest here, the battling itself does not offer me any particular appeal.
Yes, battling in raids doesn’t offer more excitement either. However, as I mentioned, I have the motivation to successfully complete a raid with as few trainers as possible.
So, I will probably continue to look for strong monsters in the future rather than building teams for Dynamax. Speaking of strong monsters: Soon you will be able to obtain a Pokémon for the first time in its shadow variant – Pokémon GO brings a new Rocket event with strong legendary shadow.
