29-year-old Kaitlyn Siragusa built a huge social media empire as Amouranth. She is one of the biggest female streamers on Twitch and is extremely successful on the paid platform OnlyFans. However, after separating from her husband, she announced changes to her content – which, according to some critics, did not materialize. Now she explains why it was never an option to stop from one day to the next.
What separation is being referred to? In October 2022, Amouranth announced that she was married. However, her husband wanted to keep the relationship secret to avoid jeopardizing the streamer’s business model.
He also controlled large parts of her life: how she should appear, which content she could show, and even how much she slept. He allegedly threatened her financial security and even her dogs.
Amouranth wanted to separate from her husband and enjoy the newfound freedoms; only do what she felt like doing.
How did it go with freedom? In fact, Amouranth made her streams more varied, showing herself with her horses or while gaming. Still, there was the familiar content: bikini streams on Twitch, ASMR videos licking microphones, and the continuation of her OnlyFans account.
Critics accused Amouranth of having invented the abusive husband to gain attention or to initiate a long-planned rebranding. Now the streamer responded to the criticism.
Amouranth is not just about herself
Why hasn’t Amouranth stopped yet? In a post on her personal Twitter account, Amouranth tackled the “most ignorant perspective” she has to deal with: People call her a liar because her content hasn’t changed.
In the subsequent thread, the streamer explains why she couldn’t simply stop: she employs around 30 staff, about half of whom have worked on the “hotter” content. They would suddenly be left without a job. That would be “selfish and irresponsible,” said Amouranth.
We have included the first 2 tweets of the thread here:
So is she just continuing now? No. The streamer explained that she gave the part of her staff responsible for erotic content a 60-day notice. During this time, they would have the opportunity to find another job, but their positions would be secure for the entire duration.
However, the decision was probably not entirely selfless: the streamer admits that she needs a significant passive income for her dreams and long-term goals – and she can only build that with her active earnings.
What happens next? Since it is unclear when exactly the 60-day notice was issued, it cannot yet be said when the raunchy content will come to an end. However, it seems that the notice has expired or is about to expire.
However, the tweets do not reveal whether Amouranth really wants to completely forgo this type of content.
She reiterates again that it has always been about having personal freedom of action. She now has the control and will do what she wants. Anyone who doubts this gets tangled up in a parasocial construct: These “fans” believe that only a bad, external influence is preventing Amouranth from marrying them.
The first in a long series of new projects from Amouranth is set to launch today, Friday, January 13. It remains to be seen what it will be about.
What happens next for the employees? Many she was able to take on for her content agency RealWork, Amouranth explains. Others she placed at events and special projects that she will announce soon.
“Silence in the cheap seats”
What else does Amouranth have to say to her critics? The streamer suspects that her critics are neither content creators nor have they ever run an organization. Instead, they sit on the sidelines demanding that she simply fire her entire staff.
There will not be mass layoffs from her, Amouranth said, she chose the compassionate approach.
