In the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online, there will soon be a new feature: Customized Actions. What exactly it entails and how the community feels about this feature so far, you can find out here on MeinMMO.
What are Customized Actions? With “customized actions,” you can change various animations.
What customized actions will there be? Currently, 4 actions are available on the PTS (Public Test Server):
- Druidstone Mining (Mining)
- Gerfalcon Gathering (Flower Picking)
- Recall from Galen’s Wilderness (Recall)
- Stone Lore Sharing (Chopping Wood)
When will the new feature be released? Zenimax has not yet provided any details on this. However, it is expected to appear on the live servers as part of Update 36 Firesong.
While the customized actions have not been widely discussed in the German community, there are some opinions about the upcoming feature in the English-speaking area. Many of these voices are rather skeptical or have concerns.
Youtuber is concerned about the implications of the feature in ESO
Thus, the Youtuber Hack The Minotaur expresses his criticism regarding the customized actions. In his video titled This REALLY Worries Me (Why It Should Worry YOU Too), he explains why he finds the planned new feature in ESO concerning.
If every conceivable animation can be replaced in the future, this would allow for countless possible customized actions. He sees the problem in that he suspects these new cosmetics will primarily be available through the Crown Store (for real money).
This assumption is supported by the fact that the community manager Gina Bruno stated in a Bethesda announcement stream that the “customized actions” will be available through the Crown Store and Crown Crates.
Thus, they would open a huge area for further monetization. He fears that this would neglect real ESO content. However, whether the customized actions will truly only be obtainable through the Crown Store remains speculation.
Therefore, he also notes that customized actions could be a good addition to ESO if they can be obtained in a gameplay-oriented manner.

Players prefer skins for peaceful companions
In the official feedback thread for customized actions in the ESO forums, most players express not quite as much criticism, but a bit of disappointment is still noticeable in the comments.
For example, the user MashmalloMan writes: “Where are the customized skins for companions? […] I’ll tell you now, I would pay a lot for a companion skin. I’m not remotely interested in a green portal.”
He refers to the recall animation currently available on the PTS. He does not seem to be the only player with this stance. Some users express agreement with him in the following comments:
- maximusrex45 writes: “They are kind of cool, but I would have been more interested in pet skins.”
- ESO_Nachtigall writes: “Yes, I want pet skins.”
- Zyva writes: “I would much prefer pet skins or skill skins than actions like recall or harvesting.”
This is how you can check out the customized actions
To do this, you first need to download the Public Test Server (PTS). This is easy to do via the ESO Client. However, note that you need the same storage space as for the game itself.
Once you have logged into the PTS, you need to create a new CP-3600 character. Only then can you view and activate the customized actions via the collection.
