Escape from Tarkov has shaped the gaming scene with its special gameplay as an extraction shooter and remains very popular today. However, the game is currently only available on PC, and we have looked into whether and when a console release is on the horizon.
Has a console release been announced? Escape from Tarkov was allowed into Closed Alpha on August 4, 2016. On July 27, 2017, the extraction shooter transitioned into Closed Beta and has been in constant development ever since. The game is therefore not finished yet and has some issues that need to be addressed.
Currently, it can only be played on PC. However, it could also be released on consoles in the future if it is optimized and adapted.
According to win.gg, the developers Battlestate Games are looking to extend their game to more shooter fans. However, nothing has been mentioned so far about marketing the shooter on other platforms. It remains to be seen whether the developers will expand their game to additional platforms in the future.
Is a console release realistic? Escape from Tarkov could still likely appear on consoles. Titles like DayZ and Rust were playable only on PC for many years, but still made it to consoles and continue to delight many players with their presence.
It is therefore quite possible that Battlestate Games wants to get the game right on PC first, as hackers and bugs make everyday life in Escape from Tarkov difficult. If the game is then in an acceptable state, it could see the light of PS5 and Xbox.
