The community of Escape from Tarkov can celebrate a victory: A mode, whose high price was controversial, is now available for little money.
What kind of mode is this?
- Escape from Tarkov received the so-called “The Unheard Edition” on April 25, 2024. This special version of the game was supposed to cost a proud 250 euros.
- Players who purchased the Unheard Edition gained access to a new PvE co-op mode that offers permanent progression. That means there are no wipes.
- The mode was initially only available through the Unheard Edition.
Why were the players angry? Battlestate Games, the developers of the extraction shooter, faced a wave of criticism after the release of the mode: the community of Escape from Tarkov was angry. The price was far too high, and the owners of the “Edge of Darkness” edition (EoD) were sure they should have received the mode as well – after all, they once paid 155 euros to receive all future DLCs.
Subsequently, Battlestate Games made several backtracks until finally EoD owners were to gain access to the previously expensive PvE mode. This access was allowed in waves over the past months.
PvE mode now available for 20 €
How can you buy the mode so cheaply now? On July 18, Battlestate Games announced that the PvE mode can be purchased as an upgrade. To do this, you need to go to the official website of Escape from Tarkov, switch to the expansions tab, and scroll down.
The PvE mode is called “PVE UPGRADE” there and costs a one-time fee of 20 euros.
You are no longer required to buy the Unheard Edition for 250 € or to be an EoD owner if you want to play PvE matches in Escape from Tarkov.
One advantage of the PvE mode is that you are likely to encounter cheaters, who kill you and steal your loot, less frequently. This is a major problem in the shooter, which is why the developers came up with something special: Escape from Tarkov puts a bounty on cheaters: rewards you for hunting them down in the shooter
