The hardcore shooter Escape from Tarkov is getting a new extensive update. This introduces, among other things, another boss enemy, new quests, and expands the Customs map.
What’s in the new update? The developers have announced Patch 0.12.7 for Escape from Tarkov and will introduce several new features with this update. These are not just additional content. There will also be gameplay changes that will impact the game flow.
5 Important New Features for Escape from Tarkov
There is a new reporting feature that lets you report suspicious player behavior. This should make it even harder for cheaters in Escape from Tarkov.
In addition to adjustments to the skills and the introduction of the two weapons FN GL40 grenade launcher and the Mossberg 590A1 shotgun, there are some special changes. We present the five most important:
1 – New Boss
A new boss named Sanitar comes into play. He is a former doctor who can heal himself and his companions on the battlefield.
He has a variety of medications and stimulants and can even perform operations on the battlefield, such as applying pressure bandages and removing bullets from wounds.
2 – More Quests
The new boss will be introduced into the story with a series of additional quests. These will take you to the Shoreline map, where you will also encounter Sanitar.
3 – Expanded Customs Map
The Customs map will be expanded by 30 to 40%. This is intended to eliminate a bottleneck. The bottleneck is at the rail crossing along the road. This has caused some problems so far.
With the larger map and more evasive options, the gameplay should run smoother.
4 – Improved Enemy AI
The AI opponents, Scavs, are getting an overhaul of their artificial intelligence and can now group up and rush towards the player. As a result, they are no longer such easy targets for snipers.
They also loot the bodies of fallen comrades and even players. So it is possible that after your character’s death, you might find good equipment in battles not only taken from teammates but also from Scavs.
5 – More HP in the Chest Area
With the new patch, the chest area of players will be increased by 5 HP from 80 to 85 HP. That sounds like a minor adjustment but has greater effects on gameplay. With this change, the ammunition types 7.62x51mm M80 and 7.62x54mm LPS Gzh lose the ability to eliminate players with just one hit to the chest.
Additionally, with shots using the ammunition 5.56x45mm M995, you now need three hits instead of two to take down players. Of course, other weapons will also need more hits for a player to go down.
This means that fights after update 0.12.7 should be more tactical and exciting. No one should rely on a one-hit kill anymore. This should also mean that some weapons are no longer so overpowered.
When will the new patch for Escape from Tarkov be released? There is currently no release date for patch 0.12.7. Players assume it will be available next week.
