The online shooter Escape from Tarkov is set to receive a new massive map. This map will have some special features, as explained by Nikita Buyanov, Head of PR at Battlestate, during the PC Gaming Show.
What kind of map is this? The new map “Streets of Tarkov” is located in a city that is in a really miserable state. Houses and cars have been destroyed, garbage is everywhere, and everything looks abandoned.
What is special? It’s notable that the level of detail is very high, which Nikita Buyanov also revealed during the PC Gaming Show. The map is supposed to simulate a realistic and modern city, as mentioned in the discussion.
In addition to the visuals, sound is expected to play an important role. Already in the trailer, you can hear cracking and the sounds of objects in the environment.
Last but not least, the scale of the map is impressive. The “Streets of Tarkov” are said to be the largest map in the shooter so far.
When will the map be released? This is not yet known. However, it seems that it is not planned for the upcoming update 12.7, but rather for a later one.
Outlook on the upcoming Patch 12.7
What does Patch 12.7 bring? Officially, Patch 12.7 is expected to be more of a technical patch and make corresponding adjustments. The focus will be on a complete overhaul of the skills system.
Additionally, two new content updates are planned:
- The map “Customs” is to be expanded by 30 to 40%.
- The new boss “The Senator”, who can heal himself and his allies, is to be introduced into the game.
However, there are still no exact details about these new features and the skill update.
When will Patch 12.7 be released? There is currently no exact date for the release of Patch 12.7. Patch 12.6 with the wipe and Patch 12.5 both came out in May. The next update should therefore not be too far away.
Tarkov enjoys great popularity again
How is the shooter doing? At the end of 2019, Escape from Tarkov was a surprising hit on Twitch. The shooter even managed to outpace Fortnite and League of Legends.
While the hype has subsided a bit, in June 2020, the shooter managed to reach number 1 in the gaming charts again. The reason for this is new Twitch Drops.
But even outside of Twitch, the shooter is currently doing well. In May, a wipe took place that reset characters to the status of newly created accounts. But instead of being upset about it, players are happy and even help the shooter reach its highest concurrent player count of all time.
