Yura is one of the few Japanese-inspired NPCs in Elden Ring. He wears a Ronin armor and carries the katana Nagakiba. MeinMMO reveals in this guide how to complete his quest and secure his equipment.
Yura is a wandering Ronin that you can meet early in the game. During his quest, you can obtain his katana, the Nagakiba, and also acquire his Ronin armor. He will also introduce you to the Dragon Communion.
So, if you have a penchant for Ronin and katanas and want to utilize dragon summons, you may be interested here. His quest can be easily overlooked, but it is still relatively easy to acquire his equipment.
We will show you step by step how to proceed to complete his quest in all phases. As is customary with other Elden Ring quests, you must speak to the NPC as often as possible until the dialogue repeats.
You may also need to choose “pass the time” as needed. This allows you to rest until morning, noon, or night.
The fastest way to reload a world is to exit your game in the pause menu and load back directly from the main menu.
If you only want the armor, it’s easy
If you don’t care much about the story of this quest and the individual steps, you can actually largely ignore the quest. So you can simply jump to the end of the quest.
Elden Ring: Yura Quest – All Steps Explained
You can find Yura in Limgrave, not far from where you start the game. There are two ways to find him. Yura is waiting in a gorge, north of Agheel Lake. You can either climb down into the gorge from the north or enter the gorge from the south.
The 2 Ways to Yura
This is the first route: The first way leads north of the gorge via a ledge. Once you reach the bottom, go south. You will find the Ronin under the next bridge.
If you encounter Yura via this route, he will warn you during your first conversation about a dragon at Agheel Lake.
This is what you need to note about the dragon:
If you kill the dragon and then speak to Yura again, he will tell you about the Church of Dragon Communion and show you its location.
If you exchange dragon hearts there, you can learn special dragon summons. Some of them are very powerful and particularly useful in boss fights.
This is the alternative way: You will need to travel towards the Swamp Cave. From the Site of Grace “Northern Side of Agheel Lake,” head east.
Ride around the lake until you find a spot to go down. You can easily reach the entrance of the gorge from the lake.
On the left side, you will pass a campfire located at the entrance of the Swamp Cave.
Continue on, and you will be attacked by Bloody Finger Nerijus. If you defeat him, you will obtain the dagger Reduvia, one of the best weapons in the game.
Once you have defeated Nerijus, Yura will wait at another spot, further north under the huge rock arch. Speak to him until he repeats himself, and you can move on.
Note: If you kill Nerijus and have not defeated the dragon, Yura will wait again at his original location.
After Limgrave, it’s off to the Lake Region of Liurnia
You will now find Yura in the Academy of Raya Lucaria. There, you will find a red summon sign on the bridge north of the main gate. You will need to walk through the magical seal.
Enter his world and defeat the Bloody Finger Assassin. After your victory, you will find Yura again in your world, not far from where you summoned yourself. Speak to him until everything repeats and move on.
The next step gets you Yura’s Katana “Nagakiba”
You will now find Yura at the Second Church of Marika on the Altus Plateau. Speak to him, and he gives you the Nagakiba katana. Afterwards, you will be attacked by Bloody Finger Eleonora. If you defeat her, you will obtain Eleonora’s polearm and can proceed to the next step.
Kill Shabiri to obtain the Ronin Armor
Instead of Yura, you will now deal with Shabiri. He has somehow taken control of Yura’s body. You will find him at the ruins of Zamor, on the mountaintop of the giants.
Speak to him, and he will instruct you to find the Three Fingers below the royal capital. If you are after his armor, you can now attack him and claim it after your victory.
Can you also get the katana without completing the steps? Yes. You can also obtain the Nagakiba if you never met Yura and only killed Shabiri.
You will find the katana at one of the three locations where you can meet Yura, so either in the gorge near the Swamp Cave, at the main gate to the Academy of Raya Lucaria, or at the Second Church of Marika.
What can the katana do? The Nagakiba is an interesting weapon and has the highest range of all katanas in Elden Ring.
Additionally, it has bleeding damage, which is very strong in Elden Ring. The weapon works best if you use it two-handed, or as dual katanas. This way, you can execute significantly stronger attacks thanks to “Power Stance” by wielding both weapons at the same time.
