What are scarabs? In Elden Ring, there is a type of enemy that can reward you as a tarnished if you defeat them: the scarabs. These beasts carry a large sphere with them. If you defeat a scarab, it will usually reward you with a war ash, a spell, or a summon. There are many types of scarabs, but the most annoying are the invisible ones.
They can only be recognized by their shimmer and move quickly across the map. Many players then try to catch one of these creatures with proper timing and swift strikes, but this can take a long time. A Reddit user now shows a trick on how to defeat the invisible scarabs more easily.
A spell automatically defeats the invisible scarabs
What’s the trick? Reddit user Radioactive_Shark shared his discovery with a video. To defeat invisible scarabs more easily, he uses the spell “Glintblade Phalanx”. The spell creates magical blades above your head that automatically seek out and attack enemies within range. Here’s a small demonstration:
In fact, you don’t necessarily need to have learned the spell to use it. Rogier’s Rapier, which you can grab from Rogier’s corpse in the “Grace of the Table”, has a war ash with the same effect as the “Glintblade Phalanx”.
Once you’ve spotted an invisible scarab, you just need to study its paths, stand on them, cast the spell, and wait for your paths to cross – the magical blades will take care of the rest.
Are there scarabs in the Elden Ring DLC? Even though the map is smaller compared to the base game, there are scarabs you can hunt there as well. Of course, not to the same extent as in the Lands Between, but savvy hunters will be able to find one or the other beast.
