In the DLC of Elden Ring, you need to buckle up again. Because the difficulty will be challenging – but you can simplify it.
Although Elden Ring had a slightly milder difficulty compared to other Soulslike titles, the game was quite demanding. Whether it was battling the legendary Malenia or the Dragon Lord Placidusax, many of the fights tested the skills, patience, and nerves of players. It was even more liberating when the respective boss finally had to meet their end.
In a few weeks, the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree” will be released, and even though much is still unknown, there are first hints about the difficulty.
What is said about the difficulty? Basically, the difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree is supposed to be oriented towards the “second half of Elden Ring”. That makes sense since you can only enter the DLC once you have progressed a bit in the story and defeated some of the important bosses.
However, there is also supposed to be a new progression system. This would ensure that you gain additional power and therefore the fights during the DLC become a little easier – at least if you use the new progression system. It is supposed to be optional, so you can also face the fights at full difficulty.
The progression system is therefore basically a “soft nerf” for the bosses – of course, if your hero becomes stronger, the enemies will consequently become a bit simpler.
This seems to indicate that everyone can adjust the difficulty of Shadow of the Erdtree a bit for themselves.
Where does the information come from? The information comes from the Game Director of From Software, Hidetaka Miyazaki. He spoke in an interview with the Chinese magazine Gōuhuǒ yíngdì about the difficulty of the game.
However, keep in mind that this information is based on translations from a Chinese interview. Small details can easily be lost in the process.
Will you buy the DLC for Elden Ring and play the game again? Or has too much time passed since the release of the original? How the story might continue after the DLC Shadow of the Erdtree has already been hinted at.
