In Elden Ring, the Lands Between consists of various paths and locations where one can get lost. However, to progress and prove yourself as untainted, you must gain access to the Snow Area of Elden Ring. We will show you how to get there.
How do I get to the Snow Area? To advance further in the world of Elden Ring, you must go through the Snow Area. However, the region is divided into two tiers and separated from each other. Therefore, you will need key items to gain access to these locations.
After defeating Morgott, King of the Mals, in the Royal Capital Leyndell, make your way to the Site of Grace “Street Balcony”. From there, ascend the stairs southeast and follow the road east until you stand before a huge closed gate.
You can open this gate and venture further out of the city towards the Snow Area. Continue following the path past enemies, up the stairs until you reach an elevator. Ride it up. Once at the top, you must cross the tower bridge further east and take a new lift down.
Now you have arrived at the Site of Grace “Forbidden Lands”. Take your horse and cross the snowstorm until you reach a huge hall where the elevator of Rold is located.
This elevator will take you to both Snow Areas, but you need two different medallions to access both locations. These are the following key items:
- Rold Medallion
- You will receive this after Morgott, the King of the Mals, has been defeated. Speak with Melina at the Site of Grace “Eldenthron”. She will give you further instructions and the medallion.
- Secret Halig Tree Medallion (left)
- You will find it in the Snow Area after using the elevator and the Rold Medallion to ascend. Explore the area until you reach Castle Sol. Defeat the area boss there and head north from the boss arena until you reach an elevator. This will take you to the highest tower of the castle, where a chest with the medallion is located.
- Secret Halig Tree Medallion (right)
- You will find the last piece of the medallion at the Site of Grace “Village of the Albinaurics”. Once there, follow the path upwards towards the east, passing a perfumer. When you arrive at a coffin, look towards the south, for there is an NPC disguised as a jar. This NPC holds the right piece of the talisman.
Now that you have both medallions, you can choose at the great elevator of Rold whether you want to travel to the Giant’s Summit or follow a secret path. The elevator will then take you either up or down.
This is how you get to the Snow Area of Elden Ring. Have you found the way without a guide, and if so, when did you discover that the great gate in Leyndell could be opened? Let us know in the comments!
