This is how the upgrade with smithing stones works: Dark smithing stones are for your legendary weapons and for boss weapons originating from their echoes. In total, you can upgrade these weapons up to +10.

Here you can find them:

• Travel to Caelid. There you will also find the Seliana crystal tunnel north of the town of Sellia.
• Defeat the boss there and you will receive the first sound pearl of the dark smithing stone miner.

For dark smithing stones 3 & 4 – Sound Pearl of the Dark Smithing Stone Miner 2

Here you can find them:

• The second sound pearl is in the Altus tunnel. You can reach it best from the grace at the Altus Highway intersection.
• Follow the path north and go down into the forest area. The Altus tunnel is located directly north of the large staircase leading to the capital.

For dark smithing stones 5 & 6 – Sound Pearl of the Dark Smithing Stone Miner 3

Here you can find them:

• The third sound pearl is located on the mountaintop of the giants.
• There, you will find a lake on the northeastern edge, with the Church of Marika located at its southern edge.
• Right at the entrance, you will find the sound pearl.

For dark smithing stones 7 & 8 – Sound Pearl of the Dark Smithing Stone Miner 4

Here you can find them:

• The fourth pearl for dark smithing stones is located in the Fallen Farum Azula. There, you need to reach the site of grace “Storm Balcony”.
• Here, you will find a corpse right next to a broken railing, where you can find the item you are looking for.

For dark smithing stone 9 – Sound Pearl of the Dark Smithing Stone Miner 5

Here you can find them:

• The last pearl is also in the Fallen Farum Azula. For this, head to the site of grace “At the Great Bridge”.
• From the site of grace, you need to take the lift down and keep to the right.
• You should encounter a hostile beastman. There, you will also find the sound pearl.

Finding Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones and Dark Dragon Smithing Stones

In Elden Ring, weapons that are upgraded to the last level are also referred to as Godslayer weapons. For this, you need special dragon smithing stones that cannot be bought anywhere.

There is only a limited number per run. So, you need to start a new run every time you run out of Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones.

Where can you find the most powerful upgrade material? You will find these stones mainly in the later areas of the game. They appear primarily in regions such as the Grave Hills of the Giants, the Forbidden Lands, and also in the Fallen Farum Azula. There are also special enemies that drop them.
