In Elden Ring, you have to earn your way to the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree”. One of the bosses is called Mohg. Here you will find out where his location is and how to defeat him easily.
Where do I find Mohg? To find Mohg, the Bloodlord, and gain access to the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree”, you need to visit the mausoleum of the Mohgwyn dynasty in the underground Siofra. There are two ways to get to this location:
- You complete the quest from Varré the Field Surgeon until he hands you the item “Medallion of the Pureblood Knight”.
- Use the item to teleport to the area of the Bloodlord.
- Search in the Sacred Snow Field northeast of the ruins of Yelough Anix for a bloody portal.
- Defeat the bloodlord who haunts you as an intruder to activate the portal.
Now you must get through the bloody lake to reach the mausoleum. Many enemies, including bloodlords and corpses, are waiting to tear you apart.
If you have survived and made it to the top, you just need to take the last elevator to reach the fog wall that separates you from Mohg.
Mohg is not an easy boss, but now we will show you two strategies on how to defeat him comfortably.
Bleeding with the Halberd of the Dark Cavalry
How does the tactic work? Although Mohg goes into ecstasy when he causes living beings to bleed, he is very susceptible to bleeding himself. For the battle, you will need the following items:
- Halberd of the Dark Cavalry
- Location: You can find it near the “Church of Bellum” northeast of the Academy of Raya Lucaria
- War Ash: Whirlwind Strikes
- Location: Defeat Edgar in Castle Morne or at the Hut of the Avenger southwest of Raya Lucaria. Extract the War Ash from the Halberd you received from Edgar.
- Blood Grease
- Location: Can be crafted if you pick up the [6] manual of the nomadic warrior. The book is located on a corpse at Fort Haight, on the eastern edge of Limgrave.
- Shard of Alexander (Talisman)
- Location: Complete the quest of Alexander.
- Carian Filigree Crest (Talisman)
- Location: Can be purchased from Iji the Blacksmith.
- Mohg’s Chain (Consumable)
- Location: Guarded in Leyndell in the sewers by two giant lobsters. Use the site of grace “Underground Road” for this.
- Also useful are the following items:
- Flame, grant me strength! (Incantation)
- Cooked Crab (Consumable)
It is best to find two more players to help you and distract Mohg or use the spirit ashes “Imitator’s Tear”. Now go to Mohg and use his chain. This item will temporarily nail him to the ground.
Now use your halberd smeared with blood grease and activate your whirlwind strikes. Mohg should then lose health so quickly that he performs his blood ritual and is occupied with it for a while. You continue to whirl around him until he dies from the damage of the weapon and your bleeding effects. This tactic requires several attempts but is a reliable method to defeat Mohg.
Sorcerer Build with Azur’s Comet
How does the tactic work? Another easy variant is to use a strong sorcerer build that utilizes Azur’s Comet. You will need the following items:
- Azur’s Shimmerstone Crown
- Location: Found southeast of the House of Volcano near the Hermit’s Village. Follow the quest of Sellen and collect the helm along with the armor at the remnants of Azur.
- Azur’s Comet (Spell)
- Location: Found southeast of the House of Volcano near the Hermit’s Village. Follow the quest of Sellen and collect the helm along with the armor at the remnants of Azur.
- Terra Magica (Spell)
- Location: You find the spell after completing the dungeon “Crystal Cave of the Academy”, which is located below the Academy at the western rock wall. Defeat the bosses, take an elevator, and open the chest with the spell in a tower.
- Idol Mass Talisman
- Location: You find it in the chest on the tower “Albinaurian Tower” eastward in the secret snowfield leading to Haligbaum.
- Magical Scorpion Talisman
- Location: Can be obtained if you help Seluvis with his quest.
- Godfrey’s Icon
- Location: Defeat the boss in the Seal Prison of the Golden Lineage.
- Jellyfish Shield
- Location: You find it north at the site of grace “Foot of the Four Bell Towers” on a broken cart.
- Lusat’s Shimmerstone Staff
- Location: Found north of the site of grace “Sellia’s Rise” after defeating two Nox Fighters. After the battle, open a chest nearby.
- Sky-blue Secret Tears
- Location: Defeat the Avatar of the Erdtree near the Village of the Frenzied Flame south of the site of grace “Great Lift of Dectus”.
- Shattered Magic Veil Tears
- Location: You find it at the Lower Erdtree on Mt. Gelmir when you defeat the boss nearby. The tree is located east of the House of Volcano.
Once you have everything gathered, you just need to cross the fog wall. Activate the spell “Terra Magica” and your Jellyfish Shield, and then drink your Flask of Wondrous Physick. Now use Azur’s Comet and keep firing at Mohg while he approaches you. You’ll see how quickly his health burns down.
