Players of Elden Ring are constantly coming forward with new tricks and tactics. However, a Reddit user is facing ridicule for a video in which he showcases the battle against the hardest boss in the game.
Which boss are we talking about? Anyone who has played Elden Ring knows who is being referred to. Just the name of the opponent is likely to give some players goosebumps. Malenia.
Yes, this boss is quite formidable and causes players in the endgame of Elden Ring to desperately bite their gamepads. Until recently, there was even a YouTuber named “Let me solo her” who helped others defeat Malenia solo – but even he has had enough of it now.
At least the boss is optional and thus not necessary to complete the game. But anyone who skips her misses one of the coolest and also most challenging fights in Elden Ring.
Since the release, players have been trying various tactics to bring the agile fighter to her knees. A Reddit user apparently found a strong method – but the video of the fight is mainly met with amusement from the community.

Malenia has no chance against spam – or does she?
What does the tactic look like? Well, tactic is a broad term and it can be debated whether the player’s approach falls more into the category of “blindly hitting”.
Because the Reddit user dspencil shows in a short clip how he completes the first phase of the boss fight in just 20 seconds. For this, he uses the weapon “Gleive of the Dark Cavalry”, a halberd, along with the war ash “Spinning Attack” and the incantation “Bloodflame Blade”, which enchants the weapon.
With that, the player faces Malenia and simply spams the spinning attack. While this does consume some stamina and FP, since the boss appears in the endgame, the character has plenty of it skilled.
Malenia doesn’t even get a chance to react to the attacks and gradually loses her health bar. Before you know it, she is at 0 and the first phase is over.
However, the video itself – which is the reason for the ridicule from other players.
How does the community react? Many comments under the Reddit post note that the player had a lot of luck with his approach. Because Malenia didn’t attempt to unleash any of her hard-to-dodge attacks.
Furthermore, the video and thus the successful tactic ends after phase 1. Anyone who has fought Malenia knows: The actually difficult part follows only in phase 2. When the boss not only flies but also uses extremely deadly explosions full of scarlet rot against the player.
Just standing in front of Malenia and spamming the same attack over and over would not work in phase 2. Users on Reddit say the following about it:
- “She got up and defeated you in the second phase, didn’t she?”, writes Rotussy Enjoyer.
- “There’s a reason it’s only the first phase,” adds Ok_Butterscotch_9127.
- “Can’t dodge the first rot explosion. Dies instantly,” predicts Freshest-Raspberry the further course of the fight.
- The user nikerock criticizes that it is even possible to get through phase 1 in this way: “Why would Miyazaki make a boss this easy? Is he stupid?”
Whether and how the original poster of the video ultimately managed to defeat Malenia remains open. What is clear is that the community remains critical of such tactics and does not easily get excited. Ultimately, however, all play styles are fine, as long as it is fun. Another player showed a trick to easily get through annoying jumping sections.
