Players have discovered a new bug in Elden Ring that makes relatively normal dog enemies some of the most dangerous ever. The reason for this is the notorious bleed damage.
This bug is about: On March 24, YouTuber Flame of Ambition released a new video on his channel, showcasing a special bug in Elden Ring.
Initially, the video shows the player’s status values. He has fully allocated them to 100% defense and has equipped talismans and shields that aim to maximize his defense.
He then approaches a dog enemy, which typically causes bleed status through bites.
On the first attempt, everything seems fine. However, on the second dog, Flame of Ambition gets completely torn apart. Just two bites are enough for the mutt to take down the buffed player at level 333:
This is how bleed works: Normally, the bleed status effect builds up slowly. With each hit, the bar fills, and when it is full, the character suffers extremely high damage that is often lethal.
In the video, however, it is shown that the bleed against the second dog was triggered incredibly quickly. The bar filled almost instantly and inflicted massive damage on the character’s long HP bar.
Bleed has proven to be an effective strategy against bosses early on after release and is also commonly found in PvP.
In the case of the dogs, it is very likely a bug. YouTuber Flame of Ambition remarks that, for example, the sound effect for the bite attack is played multiple times, even though only one hit is visibly registered.
It seems that a single bite is being registered as multiple hits, leading to a faster build-up of bleed.
This is what the comments say: In the comments under the video, Elden Ring fans make fun of the bug:
- “The next patch notes will be like: ‘There was a bug with the dogs’ damage. They required two hits to kill you. It’s now only one hit […].’ – Jum2point0
- “I’m glad that FromSoftware continues their honorable tradition of completely bugged dog enemies.” – Mittens
- “It’s just an advanced form of the teleporting dog [from Dark Souls 3]. It has learned to harness the power of teleportation and teleports its future bites into the present.” – Timothy Floyd
Others are relieved that it is “only” a bug and not a secret overboss meant to make their lives difficult. Fans definitely trust the developer Hidetaka Miyazaki to pull that off.
Surprisingly nice PvP visit in Elden Ring ends with a thank you letter for the attacker
