In EA FC 24, the best players compete not only against each other in the Weekend League but also in Division Rivals. In an exciting match in the Rivals mode, a football star from FC Liverpool faced off against a German FIFA World Champion.
Which players faced each other? In the aforementioned match, Liverpool striker Diogo Jota and FIFA World Champion of 2022 Umut “RBLZ_Umut” Gültekin went head-to-head. The German FC 24 pro only realized after a few minutes of play that he was playing against the real Diogo Jota.

Liverpool pro leads twice, ultimately loses narrowly
How did the match go? In the video, you can see how eSports player Umut initially shows visible excitement about the team, but even more about the name of his opponent. In his live chat, he jokes that he wouldn’t be able to upload the match to Youtube in case of a loss.
Diogo Jota is not an unknown figure in the FIFA scene; his account is known among the pros. In fact, he founded his own eSports team earlier this year (via X.com).
Ironically, the Liverpool pro scored the first goal of the match after just a few minutes of play. But the World Champion didn’t let that slide for long.
In a fast-paced first half, Umut initially turned the game around after a quarter of an hour, only to go into halftime trailing after two more goals from Jota.
After halftime, the Portuguese national player had a big chance to decide the match, but he missed it. In true World Champion fashion, Umut fought his way back into the game and led 4-3 with 20 minutes remaining.
The eSports player managed to keep his narrow lead, which he himself deemed “somewhat lucky” over time, even allowing himself a missed penalty in stoppage time. You can also watch the highlights of the entire match in the video linked at the beginning.
The close match clearly demonstrated that Diogo Jota’s qualities are not only of a very high level on the football field.

How did the FIFA World Champion assess the performance of the football pro? Umut was visibly relieved about the narrow victory. He enthusiastically praised the performance of his opponent in a short speech immediately after the match:
“You are a very good player, my friend. Keep it up. One day you will be World Champion. You are the best player I have ever played against” (via youtube.com). To reinforce his praise, he analyzed an exemplary game scene in which Jota made the World Champion look really old.
What’s next for the Liverpool star? Diogo Jota could continue his success story in EA FC 24 on October 21 and 22, as the regionals, i.e. the regional qualification tournaments for the FC Pro Open Global Qualifier, take place on those days. Jota qualified for the regionals with a strong rank of 81 in the EU West region. However, it is unlikely that the Portuguese will be able to participate in this competition.
