What is Phantasy Star Online 2? The successor to the first Phantasy Star Online MMORPG was released in July 2012 in Japan. Here is an overview of the key information about PSO2:
- Payment model: The game is free-to-play but has a premium service.
- Combat system: Action
- Platforms: Xbox One and PC
- Crossplay between platforms will be possible
The story and content updates in Phantasy Star Online 2 come in episodes. Currently, there are a total of 5 episodes, and all of them will be playable here.
This is how the gameplay of Phantasy Star Online 2 works: The gameplay is based on quests and is designed for groups of up to four players. The quests are played in instances, which sometimes contain random elements to keep the gameplay exciting.
For example, it may happen that so-called “Emergency Codes” occur in the quests. They provide players with additional rewards when they fulfill certain tasks or conditions.
Phantasy Star Online 2 has a large English fan community that has already released patches in English and continues to bring new updates whenever PSO2 receives new content.
Originally, it was intended that SEGA would bring the game to the West in 2012, but then there was a long silence, and now it has led to the surprising announcement at E3 2019.
Update 10.6. 1:07 AM: As SEGA announced via Twitter, the release is only intended for North America. They have not yet found a solution for the EMEA region (Europe, Africa, Middle East). They understand that this is frustrating and will provide more news as soon as they have it.
It is definitely a highly anticipated MMO title.
