In line with the end of Dragonflight, World of Warcraft is trying to keep its players engaged for a long time. Blizzard would like to be paid for 12 months in advance.
All signs indicate that World of Warcraft Dragonflight is “finished” with the next major content patch. While it is likely that smaller patches with story and quests will still be added, new areas or a new raid can probably not be expected after the release of Patch 10.2 Guardians of Dreams.
It seems almost a little amusing that WoW wants to seduce you into a 12-month subscription at exactly this time. A first leak had revealed the offer, which comes across as strikingly appropriate.
What was discovered? An offer for the WoW shop was already displayed in the mobile Battle.net app, which is not yet live. It indicates that Blizzard will soon offer a “12-month subscription” again, which aims to bind you to World of Warcraft for a whole 360 days.

The graphic clearly shows 4 mounts:
- A dragon for “Wrath of the Lich King Classic”
- A radiant chest in Classic – unknown what this is
- An oversized Murloc for Dragonflight
- The already known fish mount from the last 6-month subscription
- A large, purple owl bear mount from Patch 10.2
- A yet unknown mount (presumably a dragon) that is apparently adorned with leaves and branches
What will happen in the 12 months? The next 12 months are likely to be a bit quieter in World of Warcraft – for the most part. While Patch 10.2 is still pending and thus a significant content update with a new raid and new area, thereafter there will probably only be smaller patches. A “Season 4” is likely, where all raids of Dragonflight will become relevant again and the most popular dungeons will return once more.
Is the offer worth it? Here, as so often, the answer is “It depends”. If you already know that you will have a WoW subscription for the next 12 months, then the offer is generally quite good and the mounts are a nice bonus. However, if you usually take a break before the next expansion, you should think twice about the offer.
So far, however, no price is known – and since the offer includes mounts from the next patch, it will probably go live only with the launch of 10.2 Guardians of Dreams.
